I love the library sequence! I am a library clerk at our local library in Texas and we have a 1000 Books to Kindergarten Challenge. I believe that it is a national challenge so you should see if your library participates. Jackson and Oliver both can enter and get prizes for every 25 books they complete. Also, you should check out the “Library of Things” (as we call it) if your library has something like it. You can check out things like board games, inflatable an movie screen, a power washer, or a scientific telescope. Thanks for supporting your library! We need it right now 🥰

We use Mabel's Labels for our kids stuff :) And then, when we are done with the items and want to donate them we remove the labels. Also much less tedious of a job applying stickers than writing on everything lol Hope you guys are staying safe from the storm!!!!

Omg we have those same self checkout stands at our library. We were scanning one by one and the librarian (gently) told us we could PUT A WHOLE STACK IN AT ONCE. It scans them all at once! Not sure if yours are set up the same, but it saves so much time. 😊

I wanted to share a fun fact I just learned last weekend when I took my kiddo the library. Our library has the same machine for checking out books and you can just place all the books in one stack and it will capture all of the books at once!!! You don’t have to scan them one by one. I was mind blown when another family showed me! And now I pass it on to you!

Jenn - kindergarten teacher here. I LOVE those pencils!!!! They are the BEST. Don’t let the fact they’re technically for kids change your mind about them!! The thick lead is sooo satisfying to use.

I have those “kid” pencils! I needed a pencil and it was the only kind the store had so I bought them, but I laugh every time I use them because they’re so big and awkward. 🤣

Yasssss! Paige the Librarian is living for this vlog! Congratulations to Jackson on his reading! So proud of your lil man 😊❤ oh, also, fun tip for you (assuming that your self-checkouts can do this - from the short look, I think they should be able to): you should be able to stack multiple books up on the little table under the scanner at once. Some of the self checkout machines can be finicky, and it varies on how many it’ll be able to “read” at once, but it should hopefully save you some time to not have to do all of them one at a time. And on the hurricanes - they totally freak me out! I’ve lived in Oklahoma for most of my life, and my storm/tornado anxiety has never decreased. Even though I’m used to storm season, it just sucks. Sounds like hurricanes are similar to tornadoes in the sense that you never really know where they’re going to hit 😩

Tim is right to want the speakers. You need the music for ambiance. Disneyland/World is all about ambiance that engages all of the senses… sound, sight, smell, touch, etc. You gotta have the music to complete the ambiance. Oh yeah, and lights too! Cafe lights or something like that for evening/nighttime.

I got the office-themed kids book to build my teacher library and I just read it to my kiddos at work today, and they absolutely loved it! I'm sure they don't understand the Office and the show but it was so funny to see their reactions to the story.

My Dad loved the thick lead pencils when he was marking stuff up to cut and do stuff around the house. I've found in the things that I've built that they really do work well for marking up wood.

Great job with Jackson and his books! We were big library goers when our daughter was younger and our library had milestones for every 100 books read and we made it to 1000 as well. They did a good job of making it a fun experience for the kiddos. 😊📚…side note-Iget excited about office supplies as well!✏️😄
New school age mom here! Sharpies are great for some items but for clothing and stuffies, I used the fabric markers because the sharpies just bled out.

We moved our youngest daughter into her dorm last week (UTampa) Thursday. Flew out Saturday back home (Kansas). Tuesday she was evacuated out of Tampa due to campus being in Zone A. What a memorable first week of college!! UTAMPA took great care of her!! Told her WELCOME TO FLORIDA BABY!!
I looked into the 1000 books before kindergarten challenge recently and you count every book, even if it’s a re-read! I have a 3 1/2 year old too and we read 1-2 books each night, so not including any other reading we’re at least somewhere between 700-1000 already.
We also moved her into a big girl bed recently and it’s so fun to see her excited to get in her new bed each night. She’s been telling everyone about it, even the grocery delivery guy 😅
Jen’s affinity for pens/pencils is my vibe. I’m that lady. I have a special pencil case just for my favorite ones. ✏️✏️ ✒️✒️

Tim is the most beautiful Barbie I've ever seen. And to Jen and Tim, I have to praise you for how much you put reading materials in front of jackson. My mom did the same and I was a head three levels when I got to first grade. My nieces unfortunately do not get that kind of nourishment from their mother, my sister in law. the 6-year-old doesn't even know how to read her name. It's sad. You guys are such amazing parents
For Jackson in school, I highly recommend ordering printed name tag stickers. They make them for clothing and items and are machine washable. I can’t remember the brand we got from online (it’s been 3yrs since I’ve ordered them) there is plenty of companies online.
