Just beautiful ! How many car designs have there been over the years where every single model looks so handsome ; the sedan , the fastback , the convertible ? These '48 - '49 Caddies give such an impression of style and quality .Love to see you take it out on the road as well .
This car reminds me of the car that my elderly neighbor had when I was in high school. He had a 1949 Buick Roadmaster that was built on the same platform as this Fleetwood. I was his official driver and caregiver of the Roadmaster. He and his wife would have me drive them to their camp miles away. What a treat for me at the time.
If I had money to burn, I'd buy it and air condition it. Jabba the Hut that I am, I have gotten absolutely addicted to A/C. I don't know how we got along without it. Before you think I'm some spoiled youngster, I'm 51 years old, and I take meds. I've driven cars without A/C in the past, and remember, if I could help it, do as much of my driving at night that I could.
beautiful car. I love my '58, but they were not built nearly as well as the '49-'56. 1949 was first year for the state of the art OHV 331ci Cad V8...really set the standard for domestic engines. Cadillac kept this engine thru the 1963 model year, although by then it was a 390. Cad's were known by their body numbers...the Fleetwood was series 60, the lower end models were series 62, and the higher end models series 75...commercial chassis were series 86. There were other series over the years, but these are the main ones, esp during the '50's. There was no Eldorado in '49...came out in '53, and was a subseries to the series 62. I would love to have this '49...
What a beautiful old Caddy. I can tell from your excitement it is as nice in person as it looks on video. That's not a rear seat, it's a sofa! I have seen a lot less car for a lot more money. Would like to just take a ride in it, let alone drive it.
I really like this car! The only bone I have to pick on, are the fender skirts. I have never really been a fan of those, in general, because I think that they hide the rear wheels, and I think any car that has white walls on them shouldn't hide their looks lolol. Maybe that's just me... Great car though!
I am way up in northern Minnesota I happen to have a lot of engine and body parts original condition Chrome doors altogether for sale for a 1949 Cadillac Kenwood
me again up here in northern Minnesota let me rephrase that I have lots of engine and body parts I have all the complete glass doors windshield back window of a 1949 Fleetwood Cadillac for sale
Yeah Murray, Series 60 is just sort of a model designation. It's all a little confusing, but they basically tell you if you're getting the smaller, entry level model or the big, full-size model. Then the highest model is actually the Eldorado I believe.
Now That Is what a Cadillac is supposed to look like Sharp and sleek. not like the Fake eloquent Cadillac they have Now . Now this is a Real Car Built Like a Tank . and Built for a real ride

Lovely looking Cadillac Fleetwood. I've always loved these old-school GM cars.

Yeah, it sure has an amazing doorslam. Used to be a selling point on cars back then.

That beauty was styled by Frank Hershey. After he moved to Ford, he styled the original Thunderbird. Brilliantly talented man

There really was a reason why people bought those cars over an everyday Chevrolet.
You really can see and feel the quality. Thanks for having a look at it!

Now thats something you don't see every day! Whats the "Series 60" part of the name mean, is that just like gen code?

You will need to use that fuel filler a LOT.
And leaded fuel only.
I bet a lot of Italians were in that trunk
