- Recently I've been lucky enough to get my hands on some Sony gear for a while which is awesome. In this video I take the Sony A9 for a test drive out at a new location, and score. some epic conditions.

Great video with Awesome shots! what iso settings do you use for astro on your A9? . I have the A9 II and I love this camera, use it mostly for bird and wildlife, but now you make me want to try astrophotography :-)
I was using ISO 6400 mostly. I love how easy it was to recover the shadows.
Awesome shots! I've been shooting astro over here in Alaska for the last few years. I work at our only camera shop and we recently took an a9 as a trade in and I'm considering snagging it. I'm currently shooting with an a7rii and am well aware of the "star eater" issue that has plagued sony for years. In your opinion has the a9 been affected by star eater enough to warrant not getting it?
No I don’t see any issue with it. As I usually do Star reduction regardless when Inprovess my images.
Great video. My question is, would you buy a Sony A9 for astro or do you think there is something better. For me I love astro but I also enjoy taking photos of Bald Eagles in the winter time here in Canada. The A9 is really good for wildlife but never thought about it for astro. My D750 is good for low light but not for wildlife.
Trying to find one camera that works for two totally things.
The A9 would be perfect for you if you’re wanting to share your time between Astro and shooting wildlife 👌🏼 The A9 has great speed and excellent autofocus.
Hey! The pause(black screen) after the 8min Mark just felt a little bit too long. I almost closed the vid but then I was like wait let's see the photos. But then I didn't even get a good look at those photos. you zoomed in on those photos, moved the camera around a little bit and then skip. It would have been nice to see the full picture on screen for 5 seconds. :)
Thanks for the feed back. 👍🏼
