    Running around on the worst roads in going to give you a rough ride. I drive a car into Oklahoma on the Bailey Turnpike, and my kidneys feel like they have been punched a few times.

    Thanks for posting. I was looking it one of those but it seems too sensitive to poor roads.

      Yeah, if you're gonna ride one of these on imperfect roads you're gonna be constantly focused on the bumps and dips and not thinking about traffic at all. Thanks for watching and I hope you find a ride you like.

      Avoid janky roads. We've been doing this stuff with minibikes, and BMX for years. You know what to expect. Stand in trot stance when you see crap road in front of you. Danged babies.

      @@daugbret Fair enough. I've read that a 50 will have trouble pulling a hill, like dropping down to 15mph. Any experience like that?

    • @daugbret
      @daugbret  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jankylandhowle1118 Yeah, I test all of them on a hill and the 50s struggle a bit. They'll hold 20-25 mph in my experience up the hill I test them on. It's the hill in the video I take at about 6:20 . If they don't hold that speed, usually it's a fuel starvation problem caused by too small/pinched vacuum line to the auto-petcock. Those and the Tao Pony 50 scooters have this problem in my experience, but it's a cheap and easy fix.
      My main concern with these trikes is how they handle bumps, but I push every machine I ride so a more relaxed rider will probably not be as bothered as I am by the stiff front suspension. There's also a lot of things during assembly that need to be gone over, like all the phillips head button bolts holding bodywork are loose when they're uncrated and need to be tightened to keep the fenders and stuff from falling off. A minor concern, but it'd be worth going over them if you purchase one of these trikes.

    • @daugbret
      @daugbret  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @eddyvnhln This is the only brand of 150 trike I've ridden. In 50 mph traffic you're still going to be the slowest vehicle by a wide margin. Once you're up to cruising speed you'll only be the slowest by a little bit.

      @ipaddy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zoneout2thawrld 8:54 good to hear it can be upgraded as an extra 10 mph would suit it but not before upgrading the suspension from the look of it im assuming it runs a gy6 motor so more cc and torque would be not to hard to sort.
      over here in the UK the law says we can ride any cc trike with a car license which would be great for the people restricted to 125cc but it all depends on whether we can get it here and the prices

    It's hard to read the speedometer on the video. Is each major increment 10 mph or 20 mph ( 0 - 40 or 0 - 80 up to the red area)? I hope that trike can do faster than 40 mph as you did on the highway. Seems like a 150cc two-wheel scooter can move faster than that. Could be a deal-breaker for me. May have to go with a two-wheeler instead of a three-wheeler. Actually, with your experience with 150cc scooters, you would be the perfect person to ask how fast they go and will they go up a hill. I may have to buy a 200cc or 250cc scooter or just go with a motorcycle if I want the power to climb a steep hill.

    • @daugbret
      @daugbret  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The white/red numbers are km/h. The orange numbers are mph. They get up to 60 km/h okay and will climb to 80 km/h if you get a good run. If I hit the hill already at speed it will hold 50-60 km/h, starting from a stop at the bottom of a hill and it will pull itself gradually to 45-50 km/h and run out of guts. For reference, I'm ~200 lbs with gear on.
      Based on what you said I'm thinking its going to be too slow for you. I think they're best suited for someone who never intends to go over 35 mph. On flat ground, in the 0-35 mph range, they're sufficiently quick to keep from getting run over. Above that, like in this test, theyre insufficient.
      Two wheel version of the same thing is definitely going to be faster, though I haven't ridden one. The rear axle is pretty heavy, and there's a lot of friction loss from two wide tires in the back rather that one narrow one.

      Awww, that makes me sad. I had such high hopes. But now I'm switching to Detective mode. Judging by your countryside, trees, horrible road conditions and street signs, I thought you might be from my area in Upstate New York. But you speak in Km/h instead of Mph. So I thought you might be a Canadian up in the far North country of NYS. Then I saw the street sign for Lansing and Fowlerville, Michigan. Your potholes can swallow a small scooter. You need a Goldwing to keep from disappearing. So, you've given in to the metric system, have you? The Canadians have got to you, too. I had to do all the conversions on speed that you mentioned in order to know what you were talking about. I guess I'm the last American holdout for the English system of measurement. Or, at 80, I'm just too old to learn new things. But thank's for the reply. I guess I'll put $ 3,000 towards a different type of scooter. I had a Kymco Grand Vista and loved it. Shouldn't have sold it to a friend.

    • @daugbret
      @daugbret  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@STBRetired1 Nah, it was just easier to read the km/h numbers in the video and let you do the conversions. Laziness wins again. 😀
