Without hold to sprint, you can still animation cancel as long as you hold the left click, but then let go, or you can just press W at the right time like GamerWelfare said. Your timings are dependent on range, though, so if you are super close, it's easier to animation cancel faster, but if you are playing from some range, your animation cancel can negate the shield throw prematurely.
This was a huuuuge problem for me playing on PS5. (Im 40 and mechanically inept so hold to sprint wasnt for me)The key thing for me was to just be really meaningful with my melees. Ie. Dont let go of the button until i hear the audio cue of the shield hitting. Ive missed out on A LOT of damage just because I was trying to do it too fast.
What are some factors that you believe make Cap so satisfyingly fun to play? 10 hours in and I do not for a second regret becoming a Cap main, he has outstanding versatility for a tank
I found it easier to set hold to sprint and tap forward and then immediately melee/sentinel strike after every impact, but it's probably more effective to run in a circle to throw the enemy off.
@@arishchandok7543 So in the settings, Hold to dash is off by default. You don't have to turn it on, but it helps me to activate the dash with a button instead of automatically. When I hit two melees and get my shield throws, I press the melee/left click button again without running, then as soon as the shield makes impact, I tap forward and run/shift button to cancel animation, then immediately throw shield again. If I'm already moving forward, I just tap the run button to cancel. I try to wait for the impact first cause if you do it pre-emptively you might cancel the shield throw before it hits. It helps to look at your reticle or listen to the "CLANG!" sound to confirm impact. I play on console, so I'm not sure how reliable this is on PC.
This doesn’t work when you turn off the infinite cooldown. I noticed this too and was gassed because it gave massive burst. Tried it in the game and couldn’t pull it off. So I went back to the training range and managed to figure out that caps melee have some kind of ghost cooldown that gets removed when you toggle it on in practice Edit: So after some more experiments I found this does work. All it does is cancel the shield moving through the air. If you do this too fast, you will cancel the shield before it hits them. If you time it just right you can really speed up your attacks
i just noticed this too in the range before watching this video. i was spamming my basic attack button and wondering why my shield throw wasn’t working
So I tested out both For toggle, you just spam primary fire (R2 or whatever for Xbox). It does it fairly easy but its slightly slower maybe, but still quicker do hitting them normally. For hold, you have to hold L1 (or whatever for xbox sorry) for like half a second then hit primary. If you get the timing down, its quicker but is a bit more difficult to get down. It also might hurt your hand spamming both buttons but ur probably not gonna be doing it constantly in regular games. edit: nvm, for toggle you can get the same animation cancel if you just tap up on the left thumbstick with the same timing as you would on hold.
u should just dont hold to dash and use manual click the dash and just spam left click ur all left click ability is animation canceled and so much faster
So you throw the first 2 punches not in sprint mode and the once u got the shield throws you throw the first shield then sprint and unsprint then shield throwing and repeat ??
@@productionkos8816 It's not that bad to be honest. I still need some work to make it as clean as Curry, but it's like second nature after a 4-5 games.

Thanks goat I was just looking for this
Im literally lowering my damage by trying to do this and cutting my shields short lmao

I love his mobility and uniqueness as a tank
He’s like a more interesting Brigitte imo, and I was a Brigitte main when I played OW2
@@BashFiskme too😂
I agree. He is so dope!
He can win any 1v1

This is what i do. Melee sprint cancel. Much easier than doing this basically it’s just melee cancellung shield throw

So it’s not real💀
He does it in game aswell without the infinite cooldown
Just takes some practice
It's real, you just can't cancel as fast
One day we will get a bucky team up
Would be awesome. Have Bucky charge Cap for a shockwave attack around capt. It would give Bucky more mobility and then give Cap a bit more damage.
@@Psykroidsi was thinking a team up like hulk/wolverines would be cool, akin to thor slamming caps shield for a huge aoe, but bucky does it instead
This exactly what I was looking for❤️🔥💯
Captain America is always putting in 110%.
all i do is hold my sprint key down i’m constantly sprinting even while attacking. Just too good man
Your shield throws do no damage if you just hold it down 😭
Yoooo waiting for the cap guide 🙏🙏
Great video! Thanks. 🙌
I understand it now...
Doest just disabling hold to sprint, and just keep pressing w to sprint while clicking the attack button do the exact same thing?
Yea it does but I can’t do allatt
@@marvinadjei9179it’s easier though you just change one setting and now you can just walk forward while doing this
I just tried it. It does work that way but it seems you lose a little movement speed by letting go of W so many times this way.
For console is it better to have toggle sprint or hold sprint to do this??
So I tested out both

So I wasn't imagining it. It really IS a thing XD
Does this with work with hold to sprint? Or do you need to tap the button each time?
@@alterangel hold to sprint works too
Are you pressing shift each time after the shield throw? Or do you just hold down shift the whole time?

@marvinadjei9179 I suppose but I've been playing fighting games for years so this seems relatively easy compared to doing something like tekken moves

do you need to do it on the 4th throw aswell?

does this work with the "C" ability from Thor?
Why does sprinting while throwing just cancel your damage.... So unintuitive
It cancels out the shield travel time, so you lose out on longer range but get faster close range throws
That is no faster....
Good luck doing that in game 😂

idk how you are doing it twice as fast as normally attacking. when i do it i only get a tiny speed increase to the point where its negligible.
apparently it might be tied to the fps bug
