HILL COUNTRY RAIN. Heard it for the first time on vinyl in 1975. Loved it ever since. This could be the best version... well l´m not sure ... But it´s great anyway. Thank you!
I keep coming back to this song … It’s possibly my favorite all time song …this version I’m 65 …and there’s just something about this live version that melts me ! Ive heard all the greats …but ‘this song …is special
I first saw JJW in '76 at the old Barton Coliseum in Little Rock. My 1st thought was "I gotta get my ass to Texas and I ain't never comin' back!" 34 years later here I am in Dallas and I've seen every great Texas hipneck that ever lived (Including Townes and especially Guy). I still don't care what the rest of the country thinks about music from the Lone Star Republic, in the words of Ray Wiley "Screw You, We're from TEXAS!"
@ Jeff Fletcher...Thanks But Don’t like the sound of yr very recent comment, I only knew or heard of JJW in last year or so- and only from Utube, ...not known so well here sadly. I really rated his stage and songwriting ability, so many quality people passing on, how time flies for our generation...
@@gortagnan I was fortunate enough to see him perform a few times in the last few years. He was a tremendous songwriter and performer, too. Even when he was older, he still had a lot of electricity in his songs. He is a legend, and I'm so thankful he shared his music with us.
This song--this player/writer--remind me of a great time many, many years ago. Wonderful combination of JJ and the Lost Gonzo Band doing a classic...gives me hope that just maybe the universe will blink and let us struggle on, regardless of our mistakes, etc.
Saw him many times. Perhaps the best was in the Bryan High School auditorium circa 1989 while I was at TAMU. Amazing to see such an amazing talent in a small venue. He hung out with the crowd at the Chicken after the show.
Met him outside a bar up north when he played here once and a while. Guess now his back isn't so good and he doesn't really leave Austin to play. Got my picture taken with him. What a great guy. Makes me smile, laugh and cry all at the same time. Who knew that was possible?
Amazing video! The bass got a little hot in spots but heck ... it's a live video! "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." -- Albert Einstein Thanks Jerry Jeff, Kind regards, blv
Saw him in 1974 at SFA He was the opening band for the NItty Gritty Dirt Band. Steve Martin was the MC.. Jerry Jeff got intoxicated and fell off the stage. This is when Steve Martin was still wearng white suits with the fack arrow thru the head . He was not funny. We were sitting on the stadium field. If you took a deep breath, You were gonna get high
I saw him in portland OR with the Gonzos when he was too drunk to get through a song. Before that, with the Gonzos in Eugene, opening for JimmyBuffet, and Jerry Jeff and the Gonzos stole the show. The full spectrum.
Saw him in Houston some 40 years ago Came out on stage and said, “Hello Houston! I’m Jacky Jack Walker and this here’s the Lost Gonzo Band” He was definitely toasted but put on a great show Will never forget it!
