This was a photoshoot of actor Sam Heughan as season 5 of Outlander was just being released for Nobleman Magazine. Braedon Flynn - Film Supply Club founder, was the photographer for the shoot and he gives us a behind the scenes look on his process.
In this video, Braedon mostly shoots a Phase One IQ250 Digital back on a Contax 645 body but also was shooting a Pentax 67, a Contax G1 with a 28mm Lens, and a Canon EOS 1N.

It’s not just his gorgeous looks. He seems to be a genuine, humble, kind human being. His charity work and dedication to helping others. He’s not yet poisoned or tainted by his recent, sky rocketing fame. I remember reading an article about his career, self doubt in his early 30s - and, then BAM! His ship came in!!! I hope this lovely man stays true to himself. God Bless You, Sam Heughan.

Not only is he such a very handsome man but he’s a consummate, stage trained actor who graduated from the prestigious Royal Drama School of Edinburgh! Has shown his awesome talent on the Outlander tv series! Yes, Sam would make a fabulous James Bond!! Wonderful photos!! Sam is kind, open, generous and humble human being!! I’m nearly 73 and appreciate his acting ability, yes, he’s very handsome guy, but his character speaks to me as a human being!! Great job, Sam!!

Very interesting shoot, but I have a very different sense about the photos than what many are posting. Sam Heughan is an accomplished Actor therefore, he can follow directions and capture just about any mood that is asked of him. But that's just it, these are instructions directed at him for the best camera angle and photos. But is this the real Sam Heughan? I think not. It's part of a career expectation of acting, modeling, and stardom. He is now in the prime years of his life and he will likely ride this wave for as long as it lasts, and who wouldn't?
But, I still admire the regular guy Sam, the boy next door Sam, the witty intellectual Sam, the sports fan Sam, the nerdy guy who wears glasses Sam, the guy who likes to cook and make messes in the kitchen Sam, and the all around good samaritan Sam, who gives to his communities and charities. Yes, that is the Sam Heughan that I follow and cheer for, all the time, wishing only good things for him in his life's pursuits!

Quant à lui je me souviens encore qu"il y a 5 ou 6 ans il disait être très mal à l'aise devant l'objectif contrairement à sa co-equipiere dans Outlander, Caitriona. Et bien il a vaincu l'épreuve avec brio. Bravo au modèle et à l'excellent photographe.

Ugh so freaking good! I love the addition of turning the video negative at times! The placement of the fire behind the FSC logo at the beginning of the video was small but appreciated! All of the photos are stunning as hell!

I have this issue of Nobleman. The finished pictures show no "floods" because the pictures are cropped to show mostly the upper half of his body. I'm a tailor and a dresser. My best guess, although Sam is modeling designer clothes, they were probably samples and not bespoke/custom fitted to him. At 6'3" he enjoys a large skeleton, with a well-proportioned muscle mass overlying that bony frame and very low body fat and with long lower limbs (evidenced by his tibiae and fibulae) he would most likely have a 35-36 inch in-seam. And even if they could adjust the hem to fit his in-seam most "off-the-rack" pants would only have 1-2 inches to work with at the hem. Most likely a designer/stylist decided to have his dresser show him with no socks because it would look more stylish to see his legs than 3-5 inches of sock. The tan Brunello Cucinelli was gorgeous with its pick stitching but it did not fit Sam correctly; pants were way too short and the sleeves were snug and restrictive against his upper arm. The Zegna Blazer showed the same snugness. Both jacket sleeves needed a full bicep adjustment. I would have never let any of my customers go out in public in such an ill-fitting suit (even a designer), no less be the cover of that issue of Nobleman. The Valentino suit was pure perfection and the Dolce & Gabbana Tux...please take your hands out of your pockets!! It hikes up the pant legs and adds wrinkles to the crotch area of the pants.
I didn’t notice half of what you did but the short pants annoyed me to no end and no socks was not nice. However Sam is gorgeous and I can put up with that.

Gotta say, in this case I like the digital more. For this kind of setting the film images are too contrasty for my taste. I would've liked it more at box speed or maybe a high ISO film like Delta 3200 pulled a stop or two
I have to agree with Maximilian. Except the evening shots (digital color) looked pretty darn good. As far as B& W, Much prefer the TMAX film with the Pentax!

I think it’s awesome that there are pro photogs still using film!!Honestly, I think the TMAX 400 looked the best for the B&W close ups and that Kodak color film was cool - looked retro almost. I truly adore Sam, but some of those digital B&Ws brought out the flaws. Though, the color ones done at dusk are lovely. Didn’t care that much for the EOS results, but then again, I am a Nikon girl ❤️ this is all just my opinion, of course. 😊 Enjoyed the video very much!

Sam looks sophisticated and debonair here. But he's also a rugged outdoorsman. Sam has many sides to him but the one thing that is always present is his good heart and kind spirit.

Loved the Phase One and Canon shots. Better color and clarity (especially on black and white) for me. Not a expert at all but that’s what I liked. Subject helps a great deal as well 😊 love him
