  • The lamp-hanger chair is one of my favorite Ming dynasty pieces of furniture. Compared with the official's hat armchair and armchair with curved rest, it is more simple and upright. This video shows one of the most classic and simple mortise and tenon structure in the lamp-hanger chair. it is indeed full of imagination.

Just excellent!! To use a common and relatively inexpensive wood to create a useful replica of a classic chair somehow seems correct. Now you need to tackle the shaped back "head of the table" chair. The bow when made of hardwood could not be steam bent so a perfect challenge for construction lumber. Please share the plans for both.

Very nice joint! Thanks for sharing this! This sparks a deeper interest in me for the Chinese tradition of woodworking. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Where are your traditional Chinese hand tools? Chinese people never seem to talk about or post anything related to their woodworking tools. I'm curious. Is the only good woodworking tool company in China Mujingfang? Where are the real craftsmen made tools?

Thank you, that is a good question, I could post a video talking about Chinese traditional hand tools.
