And then I found out that she was doing big things in Europe and has literally become one of the best girls to come out of the show. I’ve now realized they really didn’t care what look was best for the girls because most professional models have a simple natural look even back then. They just wanted drama and the girls to look different.

Exactly. It was like Tyra was experimenting on these girls for her own entertainment. It’s especially heartbreaking when the girls with the most terrible cuts get sent home the very next round 🙄
I don’t think it’s even about the look they are given potentially benefitting them, I think it’s a challenge to see how they handle lack of control, stressful situations and have they adapt to the situation at hand (their new hair). Pretty sure Tyra looks at their headshots before and says “ummm how about red? No wait let’s chop it off.”
I felt bad for Jeada. Her hair was much prettier long than chopping it all off to a pixie.
Yuuup, the producers of ANTM routinely create high stress situations like that on purpose so they can exploit it for drama. And not just by purposefully giving the girls bad haircuts. Jeana Turner (known for being the contestant with alopecia) did two videos discussing her time on ANTM and how the producers would treat contestants differently, withhold information, or straight-up lie to them to create emotional distress and tension. The people who control the show are actually cruel, and Tyra Banks isn’t any better.

What a lot of people don’t realize about the show is that it was never about helping these girls break u to the modeling scene. The show is about taking girls that think they want to be models, throwing them into professional photo shoots and filming them falling apart. If they were actually wanting to boost their careers they were actually treat them like they were gonna be models instead of treating them like they were playing at being models for views.
That's a gross generalization that is really inaccurate and lazily put together. Insulting to some of the producers, handlers, and people like Miss Jay whom girl after girl after girl has sung praises of, how they got them work and looked out for them and kept in touch still to this day.
I love how they slept on Mollie Sue during C6 but she’s been one of the more successful models to come out of ANTM. She’s super cute but also can be edgy and androgynous which really works for high fashion.

I don’t like Tyra she treated these girls like dolls dismissing their feelings and making them do crazy things, for what when after winning the show most girls ended up with nothing.
I mean isn't that what it is in the modeling world. You're dressed/made up for the show that the designer wants and you're there to showcase it. That's the job
I don’t think in the modeling world the things Tyra made these girls do will be used, it’s been shown countless of times all the things Tyra put these girls through was for her entertainment and the show, not giving them a chance to become a model which is the reason these girls came on the show in the first place which was to become a model not be humiliated.
these are models. models are blank canvases and have to be willing to take on any look that is assigned to them.

Raquel Bargas Yes a contract but a contract means nothing when you’re not being hired because of the shows reputation a lot of the girls aren’t hired when they win. They’re still human beings this show has always been about the drama which is why they’re given drastic hair transformations when models are usually supposed to be natural looking. Out of all the winners only a few have made it there are plenty of testimonials from contestants on the show talking about how they were treated poorly and many talking about how because they were on the show they weren’t hired.
The black girls always look absolutely incredible with shaved heads.
They just have that great bone structure and it’s like WOW!
I really like how on Germany’s next topmodel (with Heidi Klum) they don’t tell you what you’re gonna get and there’s also no mirrors during the makeovers, that way it’s a bigger surprise

Nnena got the best makeover in season 6 of ANTM. It's amazing because she actually kept her hair buzzed for all these years!
Nnenna was one person I always remembered being incredibly stunning from back when I watched this show as a kid. Her skull is immaculately shaped, and her skin tone showed the highlights and shadows of her head and face so gorgeously.
What I hate about tyra is that when she sees a girl more beautiful than her she wants them to look the worst as possible. Plus she made Danielle in cycle 6 close her gap but made another girl shave her teeth and open it like wtf?

Also, as an adult I realized how manipulative and emotionally abusive this show was. “Do yo want this career”... seriously? As someone who models for YEARS it can be tough, and they can be nit picky but this show totally over exaggerated EVERY fucking thing. And some of the shoots they did “like this is what real models do”... Um no the fuxk they don’t. Lol I was so glad when it was over.

Oh Brad - I've done my own hair for over 20 years now - I use the cap and hook - but bought a smaller crochet hook so it was more blended! Very happy with it. Put some darker blonde tones on my roots. Lighter on the end. Cut it regularly.

No, they didn't wear long, loose waves, but in order to set and style the hair (we didn't see her in a vintage style), you don't need it to be cut in any way. The thing which stands out for 40s and 50s styles is how the hair is actually styled, not how it is cut. She might wear victory rolls or have it set in waves when she rocks a typical vintage look

I was literally just randomly thinking about how absurd it was for them to thread that poor girls hairline a few days ago.
Also it will grow out and look even more ugly with little spikes on her hairline 😂
actually alot of people do that ( i had that procedure myself) and yes at first is weird because the skin in that area looks a bit lighter (the sun didnt hit direclty because of the hair) and yeah you have some spikes growing out in the hairline (that you need to take off again) BUT after some months its like your body get used to it and it looks fine and natural and with a bigger forehead , like when they make the fade to the guys and shave the hairline for the first time as well, it actually makes your face more stilyzed than having a very very short forehead

I cut off 12 inches of my hair twice, both donating it to charity. I went pixie the second time and I love it. It's so much easier to keep healthy and clean so I totally recommend doing it! Bit random but I hope this helped for everyone considering it!
