I have to agree with your earlier commenter. That was a pretentious hipster attempt at a full English, with tiny portions and made to look all artsy. For the real experience, I recommend abandoning the idea of smart cafes and try to find a backstreet, downmarket, salt-of-the-earth workman's cafe. Possibly a roadside one on an 'A'-road. Grab a plastic seat, grab the ketchup and enjoy a real, full to overflowing plate of beans, eggs, sausage, bacon etc. And proper tea, not this Earl Grey nonsense! Now THAT'S a Full English.
Hey mate, yeah we mentioned how that was fancy for a full English. But we've definitely had the back alley version too. Much cheaper and pretty damn good 😄
CruisingTheCut Agreed. First thing I thought upon seeing the asparagus, the miniscule portions and the earl grey tea is that it was just wrong. Looked like a nice cafe though, apart from the food...
The Endless Adventure it's all about a greasy spoon brekki over the pond its about the regular cafe and black pudding yum but you need the traditional bury market black pudding that's where its at

I agree that would fill just one leg not enough food to start the day. Should go to a workman cafe like you said for a proper breakfast.
I don’t understand why British food gets such a bad press. As long as you like hearty, comfort food you can’t go wrong.
I especially like when American's who have never been to the UK talk about British food being bad - as if the US is known for their good food 😌.

Re-watching some of your old UK vlogs, love them! Hopefully you can get back to Europe if things ever get back to normal, maybe bring the new RV! I guess you could ship it over somehow? I have to laugh at some of the comments for this one saying you got the 'full English breakfast' _wrong_ by going to this place, lol. The _only_ difference is the asparagus, there's nothing else different on that plate (hash brown might be a little out there), other than the smaller portion of baked beans they gave you. The difference in taste would be zero, pretty much. It's not like it's a hard dish to get right, all the 'chef' is doing is frying meat, heating up canned beans, and toasting toast! 😂
I can't be in the UK for more than 12 hours without getting a sausage roll.
What I like best about you two is, that apart from all the exotic travel and food, you also do the really local stuff like a supermarket pizza, beer and a Netflix night in. Keep it up, I'm living my life vicariously through you between jobs. If you do a meet up in Scotland I'll be there 😃
Next time you two are here (whenever that might be) I would really recommend going to a classic town center cafe, and trying an English breakfast there! Can't wait to see what adventures you have planned for when the world is a safer place to be! Stay well and safe!
Guys, your last two videos have just blown me away with the low-light, shallow-depth cinematography. I take it that's the Sony a7ii? It, and you, are doing a stunning job: every cozy dim place you visit looks doubly romantic and beautiful, not to mention your sweet macro food shots. I also see no more focus failures. Yeah this may be a posh breakfast but looked really nice though. I wouldn't mind paying money to eat there. I can't believe I'm going to say this but the vegetarian one looked better ! well done guys, great video :)
It didn't look bad but I'd change it to mix the best parts of both on one plate.
Currently watching this with my GF who is from York and she’s finding it funny watching her hometown as a tourist destination. She’s enjoying your take on it. Also, the full English seemed a bit “clean”, if you get that. Maybe go downmarket next time you visit the Uk. Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays from Finland ! I'll definitely have to try a full english(veggie version), next time I visit. How is travelling around England, for someone who doesn't drive ? I'm really interested in exploring outside of London :)
Don't miss out on the pork pies. I found one in the Shambles district, but it can be pricier. The wall walk is pretty darn cool as well, and gives you great views of York Minster.

Too arty farty. Do away with the asparagus for more black pudding and bacon, also switch the toast for fried bread. Then you have a full english breakfast.
Kelly. It doesn't taste like blood (like in steak), honestly. More like salty, crunchy, sausage noir with light spices, unique you would love it. Perfect with fried or poached eggs and ketchup!

you cant beat a full english in all its variations, the basics imo are sausage egg and beans then you can add tomato and bacon (i love fried toms) you can also have fried bread, a bit of black pudding is the icing on the cake but I never have it at home. My personal variation is mixed tinned beans and tomatoes with plenty of salt and pepper so it is nice and spicy, with the egg and sausage plus maybe bacon and some toast (buried in the beans and toms). Delicious!!

I'm not vegetarian but that veggie breakfast looks delicious.
Black Pudding is amazing. Americans get turned off by the sound of blood pudding but is a staple in most foodie cultures
Blood sausage is a feature in poor societies that eat all of a cow, tongue, cheeks, organs, and offal, tail, hocks, and so on. It's just not the best parts. So it's all a turnoff when you have the means for prime rib.

Even though I live in the states, I never understood Americans and their relationship with a knife. Eating with a knife and fork is so much easier and civilized. It’s not difficult to put food in your mouth with a fork your left hand. All that switching hands and cutting with a fork seems pointless.
Earl grey should be drunk black. And as other posters have said try an English breakfast at a standard cafe. Truckers pit stops are the best though

I'm glad you've tried other Full English breakfasts because that one looked too pretentious and probably over priced . It looked small and were's the brown sauce. Its odd to have Asparagus and if you ask an Englishman for a vegetarian English breakfast we would laugh.
The House of Trembling Madness is one of my favorite bars in York.
I do love my home city but it does have a pretentious bubble around it.

Btw u can get veggie black pudding I think they do it at Waitrose, they also do veggie haggis.
The breakfast portion is big for my morning stomach. The big jug of tea definitely warmed you.

Hash browns not quite correct; it should have been fried bread instead, but fewer and fewer places do it. Enjoy Yorkshire. Try Runswick Bay if you are in the area.
Just a bit of history, Bubble and squeak was only eaten on Mondays as it was left over veg from Sunday roast.
Go to Whitby, it is very nice.

Try the Magpie cafe very good fish & chips and excellent fish pie, have fun.
Magpie Cafe does have the best fish and chips evvvvaaaaaaaahhhh
Don't go to the magpie cafe, this cafe is not used by locals for fish and chips! go to riverside chip shop next to the ship building yard or go to trenches! This is where the locals eat! Magpie is too expensive!
The Magpie definitely isn't spectacular enough to justify the price and queueing time.

As a cheff from the UK I agree with chasing the cut reply that it's a hipsters attempt at an artisan look to a full English! If you want a full English go to an older looking cafe or truckers stop for the propper meal! Now stop talking and eat it up before it gets cold! Lol

As a chef myself I would always tell my staff there is only one f in chef.
Milk and sugar Earl Grey is good. Whitby is good. Full English is great from a crappy cafe with kickboxing posters and tomato shaped ketchup bottles is good, but the best one I've eaten was in Australia. And it had asparagus. Your vlog, again, is brilliant.
If you get the chance you should visit Scarbough it's not to far away from York

That being said…asparagus wrapped in bacon is not part of your Great British Breakfast. Bet it tastes nice, but maybe better as a starter for lunch. That black pudding looked just right.
Hope you bought some Montezuma’s Geranium Dainty Dollops. The best chocolate in the WORLD.
If you want a real full english next time you're in England you need to stop at the Red Lion Truckstop in Northampton just off the M1 motorway. Its not a fancy full english like here, its a real working mans/truck drivers full english. No thrills, just a straight up truckers breakfast. Its also an interesting place, essentially a pub but with space for 100 trucks out back.
my local cafe does full english with toast and coffee or tea for just £3 that cannot be beaten!!!!

I like tea without sugar. It takes time to get use to it as I use to have it with two sugars and I just stopped cold turkey now I prefer it without. Your English breakfast was so small. You should of gone to a workman cafe and gotten a proper breakfast a hearty breakfast. I can't stand black pudding yukky. You know you can get White Pudding in Scotland and compare the two flavours?

Yeah you can sometimes get a vegan one with wouldn’t have eggs! And people do often have coffee with breakfast here :)
This is probably way late but you should go to Hull, its the UK city of culture for 2017 and there is tonnes of free museums and art galleries. There's even a building that hasnt been repaired from being bombed in world war 2 :)

Nah you have to be rich to begin with to make any money here lol Some nice castles to look round, most known for the TT races but I recommend avoiding those 2 weeks, busy! Also Laxey wheel is a great view, and most tourist attractions are free in the winter :P
The Ulster fry is better. You need to try it!
