  • Enjoy this little trip over to KTIX with me. Filed IFR to help avoid some airspace. ATC then kept me high until I was about 20 miles out to drop 11k feet.

Very well done! You seem super calm and competent on the controls with great anticipation and situational awareness. I fly the Musketeer which everyone says is just a baby bonanza. Was a bit jealous when I saw your groundspeed in cruise was 189kts, double what my little mouse does. Fly safe and look forward to future vids!

Great job. Keep the professionalism up. I learnt at 17 and retired off the B747-400 a few years ago. Still potter around in a Cub look alike and still learning. Take care. 😊

Why did you fly ifr?? weather looked within vfr mins
also how many go pros do you have and what do you use to record audio?

I like to file IFR in more complex and busy airspace as it just increases safety and awareness. I have 2 go pros. and use an NFLIGHTCAM cable to record audio

I think I saw that you flew to KMEI not too long ago. I work approach in that area. I'll have to keep an eye out for the callsign.

You should try KSFB RW 9C, it’s really close and a fun drop in to a semi short runway at a international

Is flying at 11,000 ft with no pressurization a struggle?

There’s another question. Generally speaking, is it advisable? While supplemental oxygen is not required below 12,500’, that does not preclude that it may be necessary below 12,500’ for some pilots ( or passengers).
Most pilots begin to experience the effects of hypoxia at pressure altitudes between 7,000 and 10,000 feet, with some pilots (about 15%) having mild symptoms at altitudes as low as 5,000’.
The major concern-again generally speaking-is hypoxia symptoms increase rapidly as pilots ascend above 10,000’ without supplemental oxygen.
The treacherous thing about hypoxia is its stealth. You don’t know you’re experiencing it or if or when you might experience it.
You might get by twenty times without a problem and the 21st will get you, which is why the FAA recommends supplemental oxygen above 10,000’ even if maintaining that altitude for less than 30 minutes.

I have a blood o2 monitor that I check frequently when I’m at that altitude. I’m a young healthy kid that does cardio exercises a lot and in result my o2 never drops below 90%. If I was to be flying at night time I would not go this high without supplemental o2 but considering the weather was perfect I saw no harm.
