That’s a funny coincidence. I could have solved your issue back then because somehow, I ended up with both the mouse as well as the rather uncomfortable hard plastic pad but no game. SimCity also had support for the mouse but it played fine with a game pad and so I stopped messing around with the setup after a couple of sessions. I think I rented the game (Mario Paint) at some point down the road to see what the fuss was all about but it didn’t really catch on with me. Maybe I wasn’t creative enough or something since there wasn’t that much ‘game’ in it. The diversity and effort put into the demo mode makes it special, though.

I was surprised that a rather unsuspecting title like this had such a comprehensive demo / attract mode. Sometimes, interesting things await in unexpected places.
