Just the alternator is around $300 at your local parts store like Autozone & Advanced Auto. So I got mine on amazon for $123 plus tax.About $131 or so & it was delivered the very next day. But I'd have no idea what they would charge for installation. Because I do my own work. I guess you'd probably pay almost $500 or $600. Total parts and labor. It's not very difficult to change yourself and save money. Unless you know somebody who can do it for you that you trust.
I once put seven alternators on before I found one that actually worked that burnt smell. You got there that’s because they didn’t wash out the inside housing from the last electronics that fried in there.
