This film rocked me emotionally. The stirring of suppressed existential dread kept me hooked all the way through. Even through the frustrating and out-of-place party scene, where it feels like the movie is beating you in the face with exposition, I stayed put.
Duuuuude! I commented on your “The Lighthouse” video when it only had a few thousand views and said you would get way more viewers because you put out great content. Glad to see your channel growing!
A divisive masterpiece not for everyone's tastes!! But to me it was an insightful yet depressing experience about the passing of time, grief and search for closure!!
Great video, man! It’s fascinating to see more videos about this film are being made today, and all of them are warranted. Some may think it’s a wonderful piece of art, and others have called it trash. I just finished my third viewing of “A Ghost Story” and went back and listened to the audio commentary of the film. To be honest, I’ve never been so obsessed with an artistic film in my life, and I never had imagine that I would. I used to see films from the Coen brothers and anything that was from A24 as pretentious and confusing, but ever since I saw “The Revenant”, my view of film has shifted. If I saw “A Ghost Story” before then, I would’ve called it the dumbest movie ever made. But now, that’s not the case. It’s actually one of my favorite films of all-time.
Going into it blind was probably a good thing for me. As I had no idea that the guy in the bedsheets on the cover was literally the image of the ghost throughout the film. So when I saw it. I went through a journey of first bafflement and giggling at the idea of this being played so straight, then acceptance, and finally I was simply into it. The subtle tightrope walking of a concept that could get so silly so easily. But then again. One of my favourite directors right now is Quentin Dupieux. One of the posterchilds of weird and surreal for the sake of being weird and surreal.
What kind of absolute freak makes it their 30s without ever having had pie? Something about the Maras always struck me as "off" but that's inhumanly bizarre.
I wasn't a huge fan of "A Ghost Story" the premise was pretty cool however i found it to be a bit cliche and predictable. I also feel like the way the film showed emotion was a little odd, like i understood what they were going for with the pie eating scene, but it didn't need to be 4 minuets long, i felt like it tried to hard in a way like "look shes sad shes eating cake and the camera is locked off, shes sad do you get it" i thought it was shot really well and the soundtrack and acting was great, i just personally couldn't really get that invested in it.
IMO it's more of a way to subtly show you how the ghost perceives time. After this scene things become less real time and chronological. It shows her grief and helps you understand the ghost more, it's a great scene IMO.
I don't know, I really found this movie a self-interested drag. The pie scene felt less like "wow, this is impressive!" and more like "huh, they really want me to be impressed." The family scenes were cool though.
I love reading hate comments for this movie, because they are always self-disclosing anti-art snobs who prefer the banality of marvel movies and easily to digest Kuleshov effect puzzle boxes rather than films that force the watcher to engage on their own with the film.
The process of film-making is so fascinating to me.
The only art that needs 50 % pure Art and 50% technic.
Such a beautiful film, a prime example of how even with such a low budget true cinema can be delivered to the screen.

I think the 4:3 screen ratio is perfect for this movie. I agree with everything you’ve said about the ratio and the rounded corners.
Wow, this was absolutely FASCINATING. Loved this movie

Fantastic video, another that is going to inspire me to watch. Truly amazing what can be done with a hundred Gs and resourcefulness.
Inspiring
Wonderful analysis of this beautiful film! Well done and thank you for the laughs too.
Will Oldham, fine actor but an even better singer.
I ate too many flintstones vitamins once when I was younger, too. I got super sick. Rip Kino.
KINO I MISS YOU ):

What’s the classical/Piano song playing in the background at around minute 11? Thank you

Something about the Maras always struck me as "off" but that's inhumanly bizarre.
F for Kino
Anyone know where i can find the film?
It's on Netflix US!
What was the song you used during the credits to the video
It's music that sweet release made for me!
@@TheKinoCorner its really good it game me vibes from something like drive, is it a full song or is that the bulk of it?
The fact that you dont get a lot more views is criminal

It's not for everyone. It's pretty divisive in my circles.
@@TheKinoCorner The video was great though! Learned some really cool info on the production and had no idea the GOAT Shane Carruth helped out

dont lump anti-art sobs (or even pro art snobs) with marvel movie watchers. im all three
i thought pie, then i thought its a quiche
Me watching this movie and a woman eat a pie for at least 29 minutes straight
from what I understand... keisha also plays the other ghost, if not THE ghost for a few scenes.
The director played as the other ghost. She was billed as the "Spirit Girl" at the party, which I think caused some confusion.
@@TheKinoCorner oooohhhh!!! ok, yeah... that makes a lot more sense. thanks, man!! really dig your channel
This movie is a horror movie in its own way ... at least to me it was .
Hope you get better man, vitamins can do that to ya
This is also a masterpiece, a masterpiece of shit. If I was TH-camr I'd make videos on movies that matter like Moonlight, American Pie, or Brazil
Is this a meme?
American Pie "matters"? f*ck off LOL

the party speech is so annoying lol
