Hi Jason Pretty brave going live on video with this ‘simple’ issue. The combination of mechanical limits, programmed positions and limit switches can have a tech’s head spinning with all the possibilities presented to you when troubleshooting this chair.
Every day is by the seat of my pants. I think showing the truth of the job is important. This was a good experience and I'm glad I was reminded about the chair cylinder shim. Thank you for watching the video!
Hello, Im an A-dec product support rep. These chairs do not have lower limit switches. It is purely a mechanical limit at the bottom. The only limit switches that are in play are the upper limit swiches that will prevent the base from going into hydro lock and the back from over extending and causing damage to other components. There is also the stop plate switches that do exactly as you described in your video. In addition, if you are in the east coast or just simply have a cuspidor. There is an additional stop switch that prevents the bowl from being ripped off if something was under it. (P14 connection) Potentiometers only control the memory settings. So even if they were to fail your chair would still have full manual movement. A-dec is always happy to help and to knowledge share. Cool video! I hope to see more! 👍
Thank you for chiming in! Adec tech support is second to none. You guys are incredible and always are so helpful. 😊 There are a couple more videos in this series where I actually get to install the proper spacer to prevent the cylinder from going down all the way. The challenge with live videos is that I can't script the outcome. I do like the ease of uploading and will do more.
Yes, that is a challenging unit to maintain. We are developing an adapter to replace the performer head with a DCI replacement head. If you would like information on this upgrade, email my biz at payments@bidentalmi.com. We also have some used parts for this unit we can sell you.
Can you help me out? I am having a similar problem with this same chair. It won't go down vertically all the way and stops about 7 in before the crush plate should be engaged.
You can ohm out the safety switches. This is a really good manual. www.frankshospitalworkshop.com/equipment/documents/dental_units/service_manuals/A-dec%20Dental%20Chair%20-%20Service%20manual.pdf You can also call Adec tech support. They are really good. 1-800-547-1883
como sabes que no es el pedal el que está fallando? tiene alguna función de reset que puedas activar? algún microswitch de corte que quedo pegado? saludos desde uruguay
Check that the foot plate is not engaged. You may have a broken safety circuit wire. E-mail me at servicerequest@bidentalmi.com if you would like to arrange for 1:1 support.
