love it. they needed a rebrand. the logo isn’t amazing but the themes are great
It looks more like a company logo than a sports team logo.
The global logo (the one with the ship) is OK in my opinion, I like the ship being in it. Now, the LA/Clippers/Los Angeles logos all look phenomenal
Ngl I would like the logo more if the ship is smaller. Rn it just looks too compacted
far better than the bullshit they been using the last couple years
"Maybe Kawhi Leonard is not a good model"
The casual roast goddamn 🤣🤣
Prolly still the best clippers jerseys oat which says a lot about the clippers
some of the lob city era jerseys were a crime against humanity😭😭
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the new Jerseys lmao 😂
No probably about it. Clippers have so many jerseys that should be considered war crimes 😭
2019 City edition was cool but only bc it literally had no logo 🤣
dont ever disrespect the buffalo braves jerseys like that ever again
The same thing happened last year at a Kings vs Lakers game. The Kings won against the Lakers in LA and for a lot of the last few minutes in the 4th quarter you you could hear the light the beam chant. Just shows the passion of the Kings fans at the moment.
Light the Beam is such genius marketing
Logo is a 10/10, has a ship, with a C around it in the shape of a compass, with a basketball pattern acting as waves at the bottom of the ship. Perfect execution. Jerseys are simple but clean, solid 7-8/10, good to ditch the black.
Jerseys been getting tooooo simple imo
Ngl I didn’t know what a clipper was. Now we know it’s a boat but they put a ship in the logo 😭
Logo is terrible
@@3selfnah have you seen the ist jerseys they tried to much
At least they jersey ain’t as plain as the Utah Jazz
As an actual Clippers fan, I love the rebrand!!!!!!
Clippers fans exist!??
Yeah number two right here @@goatmode7317
I did love the black LA jerseys, but I'll sacrifice them if it means we get this rebrand
@@goatmode7317growing up in la lakers are THE team but you ain’t going to no game without breaking the bank. My dad got Clippers tickets from work I’ll always have love for the team for that
@@goatmode7317 Low-hanging fruit
I’m a fan of the rebrand. So funny how half of NBA twitter doesn’t know what a clipper is😭
It’s bc the Clippers themselves as an organization never referenced a ship of any kind for almost 40 years, the large majority of NBA fans are 30 and under so yeah. Its a given especially when the fanbase is dumb as hell.
The closest hint they gave was the Nautical uniforms. Other than that, the organization wasn't giving fans much to work with to figure that out.
You could say the same about wth a Laker is. How much of their fanbase remembers their minnesota era lmao
@@105anthonyThe Lakers are pretty explanatory tbh. The team was originally in Minnesota which has a lot of lakes so they were the "Lakers"
@@105anthonyeven if you didn't know the history. Lakers = lake
SAN DIEGO STAND UP, we love it around here
As a San Diegan and Long Life Clipper Fan We definitely love it here! I’m so damn glad the Clippers continue to pay homage to their roots in the city! 🏁
@@thomassd12 exactly, the navy life and honor here is one of the biggest parts of the city, being part of a navy family i love it.
bro repping san diego
@@E4MBdamn right mf
@@E4MByou must’ve never been
Damn near most the teams in the league needs to rebrand especially the jazz
I really thought the name clippers referred to barber clippers 😭
I wish the Clippers would switch their colors to Orange and Blue from their San Diego Days. I feel like too many teams have the red, white, and blue colors. Other than that the rebrand is cool way better than their current branding.
This could be cool but OKC already has the blue and orange color scheme so even that wouldn't be too unique. Even more so since they're in the same conference and see each other several times per year.
@@jlee0799 Still better than 4 teams having the same colors. At least the SD Baby Blue would be a different shade of blue from the Knicks and Thunder.
I think the Clippers are the only team with a navy, baby and red colour scheme. The baby blue as a core color (it’s on every New Jersey) adds something different that the wizards, Sixers etc don’t have
Clips fan since '06. Any new logo was going to be sight for sore eyes. This is the first logo in the teams history that leans into the name. Got folks that were grown that didn't know a Clipper was a ship so when I called the G-League team the Canoes, they were confused. The C logo without the boat in the middle has the biggest potential IMO
Absolutely love the logo. So glad to see a team not extremely simplify their logo to the point it has absolutely no character (I’m looking at you raptors)
And the jazz too
Ya as a raptors fan i agree.. its a joke.. we had one of the best logo's.. and our own colour with purple.. and we changed both. So dumb
Back to purple 💪
I dig the rebrand, but to me it's always been weird that NY and LA have two teams, because you know there's always going to be one that's way more popular than the other. Most fans pick a team because it's their city. Well, if you've got two teams in a city, most fans are going to pick the one that has a bigger history of success.
I swear I think people forget Orlando is also in Florida 🤣
Plenty of fans enjoy copping tickets for 40 instead of 200
@@Cashmoneez There’s a big difference between multiple teams in one state and multiple teams in one city
It's because the market can support it. Dallas can probably support two NFL teams too. London has several soccer teams.
As a New Yorker I root for the teams that play(ed) nearest to me (Jets/Giants is a toss up in that regard, but ppl are still aware of where those teams played historically and they often make their choice accordingly)
Personally, I like the jerseys, the logo is weird, but probably the best they have had in the past 35 years, overall I would be happy if I were a clippers fan
Right?? The jerseys go hard but that logo is 🚮🚮🚮 imo
Nets should have stayed in Jersey. They were so loved here.
Agreed. They moved to ny to play second fiddle forever.
Made for a fye Jay z line tho
@@TheManFromJerz201 This is what I've been saying for the past 11 seasons. This is coming from a Sixers fan by the way.
I hate this narrative so much. My dad was by the 02 and 03 FINALS and the place was empty lol. NJ was not it. Being second fiddle to the Knicks admittedly sucks but staying in NJ was not the answer.
@@johnhale3 It's not like Brooklyn better. I'd rather have empty seats than to have a trash team on the court
Anything over the minimalist bs tbh
call me a hater but if you showed me the logo without the text and asked me what it was for I would say "a cruise company? maybe Carnival cruise because of the C?" absolutely nothing about it reads sports logo to me- and even worse, it reads as a completely different industry. Uniforms look sick tho
New logo is trash, an ugly cruise ship in the middle of crosshairs
As a Warriors fan, love that Navy Blue they’re using because like you said they’re buying into their roots and name!
The new logo is better than the current won, and the jerseys are the best in this franchise’s history
2:47 I’m kind of surprised Kenny doesn’t have a Christoper Emmanuel Paul Clippers jersey
Every day we get away from the simplistic nba the better. Tired of nba teams being like "we need a logo. Well our letter are LA and C so done"
They better win something with all this money they spending 😂😂😂😂
I’ve literally been thinking how they should bring those old clipper font jerseys back. But definitely need the powder blue!!
It looks dope as hell and it will fit well in their new arena
The logo is solid as an alternate logo but as the main one it’s kinda ass honestly. Also the court looks too much like the wizards imo
As a clips fan, this a dream come true been wanting a rebranding. The emphasis on naval ships was just what I hoped for. Hope our team grows into sum other fans could enjoy watching as well.
Logo looks like it belongs in the MLS, which isn't exactly a good thing, jerseys fire tho
I will say nets fans showed up when we were good and had kd, kyrie and even sometimes could be heard in msg when playing the Knicks. But rn this is the most miserable ass situation in the nba and u couldn’t catch me dead going to a nets game this year, any team can fill up the Barclays rn. I struggle to watch them on tv let alone go to a game and I’m a diehard fan lol
I'm a Clippers fan. (Ignore the pfp. It's a meme). I'm so excited for the Clips to have their own stadium! I was saying they needed that since before it was planned. Plus, l love the rebrand. Maybe the jerseys and court more than the logo, but nonetheless, a rebrand felt nice. It would be such a perfect storybook ending if we finally did it next year! Because, tbh I think that regardless this year is too soon but next year is possible.
Might be the biggest W in Clippers history 😂
Nah those Clippers jerseys are gonna be some of the best in the league and probably in my opinion the best already
I like the Clips rebrand a whole lot. And I’m a Lakers fan. I absolutely hate the current Lakers purple unis with the black down the side. Idk how you fuck up the most iconic jersey in the sport.
As a Nets fan, everything you said about them when it comes to stars not wanting to come to Brooklyn because of what went down with Durant, Irving, and Harden, I 100% agree with and feels very true.
New jerseys are solid, but to be fair most base nba team jerseys are not that exciting. Hope they can do some wacky shit with the city edition jerseys
I’m your resident Clippers fan here, Kenny. It’s awesome. It gives me those vibes of that old San Diego Clippers logo with the sails. I wish we would have moved to San Diego because SD only has one prominent professional team.
i mean, idk if it s a clippers problem particularly---a while back when miami beat the lakers in la, you could hear the 'lets go heat' chants near the end of a ~20 point win
Jerseys are great, but the logo is mixed for me. I think it looks a little too corporate and minimalist like you said Kenny but not that bad and I like all the details and homages to the city of San Diego
Red ones are a 10/10 and white jerseys are a solid 8/10
Praying the Mavs are next to rebrand🙏🙏🙏
Kings fan here - We have a decent amount of Kings fans in LA so at times there will be a decent amount of noise for the Kings when we play both LA teams
Same thing in NY because of the Rochester days
Yeah LA has a lot of transplants
The Clippers still have some support in Buffalo for the same reason.
Nah most king fans are up north
F the kings they suck
to me it just kinda feels like a Navy logo or something like that
They shoulda just renamed the team too. The logo really does look like an advertising for a cruise.
As a clips fan I love it. Our logo now looks like the paper clip that used to help on Microsoft Word when I was a kid.
The logo would be better if it was a side view because then the sails of the vessel would be more discernable. From the front it's really hard to tell that those are sails, and it does look like a cruise ship. It's ok though. They needed a change.
That white jersey is super clean. I actually like the blue one more than the red. The red one seems a little too saturated or something, kinda wish the script had a white outline.
the lack of a white outline is definitely the only thing holding the jerseys back. they would be SO clean if there was an outline
they finally went back to that cursive font, reminiscent of before and during the lob city era.
The new one looks like something you get when you ask an AI to give you "an American sports franchise logo". No originality at all.
I agree the current logo is ass but cmon, there are older ones that are better than this new stuff looking like a pop up clothing brand run from someones garage.
Logo: Awesome, instantly a top 10 logo in the league
Jerseys: Love em, they listened to the fans and brought back the red ones.
Court: It looks cool, they actually have the nautical coordinates for the stadium I believe at the bottom that's really cool.
Also to touch up on the "light the beam" chants that same thing happened when they played the Lakers last year. Kings fans travel will in California
2:35 What do you mean, "he is not enthousiastic"? He is brimming with youthful exuberance and radiates Happiness!!! Just look at him!!!
The Clippers 2000s jerseys were by far the best jerseys they’ve had in their history. These new Clippers fans are just coping rn
The Los Angeles Carnival Cruisers🤡🤡🤡
The sad thing is Brooklyn was on the way of becoming a fun organization again. That team with Dlo, Levert, Allen, Harris, dinwiddie and Jared Dudley. Now they weren’t a contender obviously but the aura around the them was fun and exciting. Watching the bench celebrate and seeing the crowd actually root for them. It’s sad they gambled their cap space on Kyrie and KD, 2 stars who aren’t about franchise loyalty and were plagued by injuries.
The Logo is absolutely awful. I guarantee you, if you showed 100 people just that Cruise Ship thing, without the "LA Clippers" written out around it, the majority, if not all of them, would say it's some Travel Agency to the Caribbean or something like that. As a Sports Logo it isn't saying anything. The LAC Logo was bland, but at least you knew what it is
They're just prepared for the playoffs with their Logo. When they get bounced they'll say hi from the Caribbean
Love new logo and unis. At first glance it looked like the crosshairs of a scope. Looks much better than the generic Clipart LAC logo.
"Colour on colour" often looks weird without "outline/trim/border".
Red font on navy/navy font on red woukd look better with with outline
Sad they make kits like games with "5 slot" limitations - it's either "first idea" or "quit halfway through good idea"..
😂
best thing for a clippers rebranding would be moving back to SD and having a city of their own. same with the having the whole state of NJ to themselves
Nah that new logo is ass I like the old one better!
I'm glad they're going all-in on the nautical theme, gives them an identity outside of "the other team in LA"
I absolutely love the jerseys but I don’t really get the logo. Like I can’t tell what it is 😂😭.
Since its a naval vibe. They need the hugh hefner design flat caps. Those would be hard with gold accents on them.
1:17 I design logos, the new one is not better. Lakers don’t have a picture of a lake. They don’t need a picture of a boat.
I disagree.. I think the Lakers logo just became iconic because of the chips they have.. so the name itself is iconic enough.. I mean why'd you think the clippers logo sucks when it's the same with Lakers, just the name.? Because clippers don't have the chips to back up the name.. it's just not iconic enough and they need something to scream iconic..
Clippers Fan
I agree with your logo take. The global logo is where it's at. I feel different about the court, not a fan. Let's see what the lighting does. I'm not a fan of the jerseys, they look dated. The rebrand merch is giving... Abercrombie and Fitch. Let's see what the numbers do.
After that clip against the Kings, there better be a win against the Lakers tomorrow or the marketing strategy will look like a fail. I would love to have known the timeline for doubling the fanbase.
Great video, thank you.
Remember when everyone was hating because they started 3-7 after the trade?
That was me😂 I was mad wrong
so youre telling me kenny doesnt have anything clippers as a chris paul fan??
Wait, it's a naval reference? I always thought it was referencing hair!
Honestly, I would've preferred a barbershop pole as their logo.
A Westbrook #0 would be hard on that red jersey
kenny... come on now. that new logo look crazy, look like a nautica collab wit a sailing company. i actually enjoy the current logo.
Brooklyn and New York are in the same city btw.
Same state not same city
Brooklyn is part of NYC. The Knicks play in Manhattan which is also NYC
the blue and red jerseys could benefit from white outline on the script lettering
Clippers fan since 01’ and the same age as Kenny,. Love the whole rebrand and really sad about the light the beam but it happens when you are the little brother org just kinda get used to it but happy new kids are fans
I’m getting Seattle Mariners vibes from just the logo. Not a clippers fan but I dig the rebranding
Not really a fan of the new logo. I think it gives business/corporation more than sports team but I like that they decided to rebrand in general
Reminds me when the raptors and Brooklyn changed their logos to just the most generic things out there. How do you go from a sick purple and red raptor to what they have now??
I love it. Never even knew that a Clipper was a boat before today. It will just take some getting used to.
I Love rebranding as a long time Clippers fan. The current (I guess Old now?) was trash, I hated it day one, idk why the people that liked it like it but whatever. the jerseys need lust a little white outline or something to make the script pop imo. The best move ever is getting out of a shared building, don't get me wrong Staples was still better than the Sports Arena lmao but so would playing in a parking lot tbh. Logo wise I hope they tweak it a little because as you said "gives cruise ship vibes" they can make the sails a lil more pronounced, but all in all I am happy with it. The dark clouds of Sterling are fading away finally though. Excited to drive down to catch a game at the Dome.
I like it. The logo is mid, but the jerseys are pretty good. A lotta teams nowadays try to be simple with their unis but some teams like the Cavs and the Jazz are too simple to the point where they're bland(especially the Jazz.) The Clips jerseys are simple but they at least have some good design on the side panels to spice things up. I'd give the jerseys an 8.2/10
First
Those black Los Angeles Statement jerseys are still fire. Feels like the new red took all the great elements from that
Tbh this is the best clippers rebrand ever.the jerseys are the best in our history, the logo is ok but not too bad. Overall a good rebrand
I just realized it’s been close to half a decade since Kawhi left Toronto
I never understood why they didn’t just fully embrace the black and white city edition branding
That baby/powder blue is easily the better option for sure
I love the rebranding so much. So much better than the last one we had
I'm sick of these circular logos man, so lazy
Hi Kenny! Are you gonna bring back Kenny 13aseball? I want to hear your opinions on those new jerseys!
There’s a game from last season where the kings beat the lakers at crypto and you can just as clearly hear kings fans chanting “light the beam.” More about how good of a fanbase sactown has than anything else.
I dont like those bro
Just reminds me of the the mid / late 90s Clippers jerseys which is an interesting time to harken to
theres too much going on in the logo imo but it isnt bad and its 100x better than the last one
The logo gives me PSG logo vibes which I really like.
Shoulda been a hair clippers as logo
the new logo is trash. too much going on. previous one was too minimal for people’s taste but it was better than this ship
I really like the logo 9/10 in my opinion. The court is not bad overall could've used a bit more color other than navy 7/10. The jeresys are too bland and boring to me, easily forgetable 5/10 maybe 5.5/10. As far as the Nets go, maybe consider going back to the New York Nets, instead of Brooklyn. Perhaps that could help fans in the other boroughs beside just Brooklyn feel some sort of connection to the franchise. Well, that and well ............. winning.
A win on multiple fronts:
1.) The full removal of the Clippers brand from the Sterling era: Those cheap looking fonts are gone. The branding is gone. Everything that reminds the fans of Sterling except the team name is gone. I truly don't think I need to say much more than this. Moving onto...
2.) The focus on the actual namesake, the Clipper (a kind of navy ship): It gives the club some semblance of identity. Perhaps their new mascot has some kind of synergy with this, like a sailor.
3.) The refocusing on navy as the base of the color scheme: For too long, everything, including the logo, seemed to try and be a poor-mans Lakers, which is also being rectified with a new, personalized arena. No longer will they be the second most popular team in their own building, let alone the city. By focusing on navy instead of white or red, something really seems unique about the Clippers. Which that brings me to...
4.) The name: Internal studies had shown that despite all of the pain and misery the franchise has provided the fan base, the Clippers was something that stuck, so much so that according to said studies, any name change would have brought a violently negative reaction. So it shows that yes, even though they technically don't have to do anything that the fans want, and they would have every excuse in the world to change the name that has been so far synonymous with nothing but failure, they didn't. Because that's what the fans wanted. That leads perfectly into the final point:
5.) Building the fan base for the future: The actual connection with the fans is important here in establishing an identity. Whereas the Lakers are Showtime, bright lights, glitz and glamor, stars at every game, the Clippers can do well to market themselves to a more blue-collared, Everyman type of person, particularly as the country continues to become more inhabited by immigrants who may not be able to afford to go to Lakers games.
TLDR: The Clippers are doing everything right to distance themselves from being the Lakers little brother with this rebranding, and I like it.
They tried marketing the team, they just dies the first year when the Lakers won the Championship. It wasnt their city, and they werent even close to It.
as a heat fan, I've never needed to be concerned about my team's branding. That shits been fire since day one (we shall not discuss the heat culture jerseys). The Hawks, Mavs, Magic, Wizards and Pistons are in my prayers, may they see the light lord. Especially the Wizards, bring back the Wizard man, he was cool as shit. and for the love of god, get those fucking disney ears away from the Magic.
The logo looks more like one of those modern soccer/football logos, and i dont really fw it
