Luke Kornet is still kinda a meme, but he’s genuinely decent. The Celtics have him, Tillman who’s versatile, and Queta who’s very athletic, behind KP and Horford.

@@Skelly57we didn’t see it a lot but I could definitely see JT playing center. He was great on those boards (atleast against mid centers) during the postseason. Hypothetically if we had to play a back to back vs Minnesota and New Orleans I’d say Horford plays that first night vs Gobert and Tatum would play center vs Theis or whatever.
The Knicks exist so I doubt it.

As one of probably many Celtics fans in this chat, it’s not about no revenge or anything. It’s about managing minutes properly and KP being healthy for majority of the playoffs. Not to mention, Mazzulla has the team poised and humble.

Couldn’t have said it better. We won a chip and I couldn’t be happier but we def could’ve won it better. And we will with time and exp. My biggest gripe is bad offense when he have the best offensive team in the league arguably

If Mazzulla had the team humbled and poised then they would’ve won that game 7. The Celtics got ahead of themselves and got humbled by Jimmy Butler.

Joe Mazzulla said himself he learned a lot from his first year and said that those negative experiences helped build up himself and the players in the locker room.
It feels like it. No team has been together long enough for it to feel like their bout to pop. OKC has upgrades but truthfully they’re still young and progress isn’t linear. They could easily lose in the first round cause everyone knows about them now. And the wolves just took a step back.

you say that every NBA back to back champ has a top 10 player of all time, but how many of those players were top 10 at the time they won the second ring of a b2b? Maybe a lot of those players are considered top 10 of all time in hindsight BECAUSE they won back to back.
Still nonetheless even if the Celtics win back to back and let’s say that’s it for his career. No more rings and not one MVP. We won’t remember him as top 10 player of all time or even top 50. Curry and KD won back to back but still some people argue whether Curry’s top 10 and if Kevin’s top 15 and they are both levels ahead of Tatum not to mention they didn’t go through 3 injury riddled teams without their best player to make the finals

Out of the entire Eastern Conference, Philly and Milwaukee just don't register on my radar anymore. I'm sorry! The Sixers aren't taking that leap as long as they commit to Joel Embiid, and the Bucks have Doc Rivers coaching them! Maybe he worked out in 2008, but he's had 16 years to get it done again since then! It's not fucking happening! I am, however, looking forward to the Knicks and the Pacers, the latter of whom were STILL a pain in the ass despite the sweep. And I'm kind of high on the Magic, but we'll see where that goes.

No team has repeated in 6 years. Kinda hard to say destined. If they are healthy like last season then they have a great shot. Lot of variable have to go into play to win a championship. Winning back to back has not been done since the warriors super team. There is a reason for that.
Queta’s development in the g-league has been excellent, but I think Kornet and Tillman get a shot at backup 5 minutes before him.

Yes all teams have had the potential to repeat, but the celtics were statistically the most dominant team of recent champions and didn't lose anyone of note. So they might fail like the others but they are arguably in a better position to then the last few.

I don't think that the Celtics are "destined" to go back-to-back. No championship team is truly destined to go back-to-back. They have the best chance since they did retain their main core, but health (Porzingis), age (Horford, Holiday), and depth (their bench) are gonna be concerns for them. Tatum and Brown may have chips on their shoulders, but their inconsistencies as players are also still concerns. They can repeat, but they will have to go through a tougher gauntlet than they did last year to pull it off.
One of the things I hate about the first argument is that while yes all those players are considered all time greats.. they are considered they highly in large part BECAUSE they won championships.
Yeah I think it’s highly unlikely Tatum ends up in T10 talks, but I don’t really think this “best player” or “do they have an all time player” really has any bearing whatsoever on who’s gonna win. The best team is the most likely to win. Simple as that.
From 2019 onwards, all those championship teams ended up losing valuable players during the offseasons. Not only have the Celtics have maintained their core 5, but their bench as well with a few additions. Celtics also fixed the weaknesses at the positions they struggled with over the years since the rebuild in 2014-15
My biggest concerns with the Celtics are (in order): KP being hurt, Horford being old, one of the starters besides KP getting majorly hurt, Brown being pissed about not getting as much respect as Tatum (like he deserves), Tatum losing his jumpshot and turning into Ben Simmons,
The Celts smacked the whole league around all year last season. The whole team is back. Health will be the determining factor, I think. If the C's are healthy, put some money on them. Put a little on OKC, Dallas, Denver, also--and maybe a little less on Sixers, Knicks, Bucks, Magic, etc. It should be a great season.

As a Celtics fan I love our chances if he have KP all playoffs, and if we don’t I still trust this team to go deep and experience could be what gets us back again.
That being said, OKC is gonna be just as good as we were last year no question, Dallas I like more and more as time passes, and the Knicks and 76ers are going to be extremely tough outs. I’m very excited for this season.
And I think if we get a healthy Celtics vs Thunder finals, it would go down as an all time great duel. Both teams are so talented and well coached, and have depth beyond the typical title team.
And Celtics-76ers, Celtics-Knicks, or Knicks-76ers would be some of the best series we’ve had in recent years. I’d say 2022 Celtics bucks would be my comparison for physicality, atmosphere, and performances.
Another thing the Celtics have that no other team has is Joe Mazzulla. He might not be the best x's and o's coach in basketball, but he is a leader of men. He might be a little bit crazy, but all those weird analogies and clips he uses are clearly working. That team seems totally bought in to winning. There is no doubt in my mind that if he wanted to, Tatum could go out and average 35 12 and 8 and win an MVP this year, but he knows that wouldn't help the team win. JB could just as easily decide to focus on his scoring and go for 30 a night, but he knows that wouldn't help the team win. Any of the guys in the starting lineup could very easily be selfish and try to take over the team as the number 1 or 2 guy, but they'd all rather win. And I think Mazzulla is playing a big role in that.
If the Celtics don’t repeat, then the 2020’s nba decades will be similar to the 1970’s nba decade where no nba team repeated or won more than 2 chips in the decade.
Jrue is a perfect fit for the Celtics, the floor general they’ve been looking for since the Isaiah Thomas days.
Actually with Porzingis he said hes been doing contact workouts and would expect to be back closer to mid-late november which is huge for the celtics
KP is way ahead of schedule with his injury too. He’s already playing with light contact.
If last year the C's were dominant even despite KP being injured, and Tatum not hitting shots in the playoffs, there is a scenario this upcoming season where both of those things aren't true and they get even better.
