It's terrible as Annatar, technically good as a modern sultry male model though. Please try to understand Tolkien before attempting something like this - this shows a lack of knowledge of the source material or a lack of understanding.
Now I'm gonna be blushing every time I watch LOTR and hear Sauron say "I see you." 'Who me? 😳 ..stopp~ 😏🥵😍' Seriously, amazing work. The level of detail is incredible.
More than anything, there's something about the eyelids that sells this hard for me. It's like a quiet imperious contempt, subtle yet biting. An elven-ish sociopath all the way.
i actually saw this on artstation a few weeks ago and randomly stumbled on this video now too and i'm really glad i did! i love how you explain and show your process, i love your personality and humor. this was by far the most entertaining and well explained sculpting video i've seen!
I hope to see more Tolkien characters brought to live, would be so cool to see your vision of young and mighty Celebrimbor, Galadriel or Luthien. We got really disappointing adaption in Rings of power, but I feel better when seeing this Sauron.
Since Tolkien wrote letters on how he despises automation and heavy machinery (speaking not only of WW killing machines), it is obvious that Sauron is covered in metal and iron in Peter Jackson's trilogy :] Edit: great final result👌
Oh HELL YES!! This is so PERFECT! This is exactly how I imagined him to look like, I followed a bunch of artists that you showed at the beginning as ones you took references from, and I tried to come up with something similiar but could not succeed. Spent a long time and gave up, BUT THIS! This is exactly how I imagined he looks like!! Beautiful work, man, this is absolutely fantastic!! I am in awe!
I'll never get over absolute mad-lads like you that dedicate so much time, knowledge, patience, and effort into such fantastic art! I've tried modeling like this before, and it is VERY difficult to master :} Amazing work!!!! Its wonderful
I'd hope one day I get to meet more character artist such as yourself. Their so much thought and effort put into the whole thing. You forget what's going to happen towards the end and that leads toward the best outcome!
Freaking sick and beautiful. I love the slightly asymmetrical look, which he was probably symmetrical but in the final render his eyes looked asymmetrical in a way which made it more realistic, feeling super inspired. Awesome vid! A lot to learn too
I rarely comment on TH-cam videos but for yours I do to say that your work is amazing this is probably the best representation of Mairon/Sauron as Annatar the lord of the gifts I've ever seen. If you feel like it for your next sculpt, you could interpret your version of his boss Melkor/Morgoth that could be really powerful to see the power of this Vala
Sauron looks like he grew up with money and does vlogs with his friends over in California while driving around in the lambo that his parents gifted him for his 16th birthday
"Upon that ship which was cast the highest and stood dry upon a hill there was a man, or one in man’s shape, but greater than any even of the race of Numenor in stature...And it seemed to men that Sauron was great; though they feared the light of his eyes. To many he appeared fair, to others terrible; but to some evil"
God damn, this looks sick man! Your videos were one of the reasons and inspirations for me to start learning 3D art ( game characters more precisely). I'm also watching the show and I'm enjoying a lot as well, trying to avoid all the hate as you said, fantasy it's probably my favorite genre and watch all those armors and creatures on the screen it's amazing!
@@artofjhill It has woken up a bit the desire I had to do 3D and stuff like that like I used when I was much younger. I've been taking drawing lessons for several weeks. Maybe I should get back to 3D too :)
Beautiful! Really would have liked to see your Sauron/ Annatar version in the series. Sadly we have only gotten a scruffy and smelly Halbrand dude so far... What a letdown smh
I ask this as I paused at the 23 second mark... Did you refer too to the deleted scene in the movie where his silvery elvish apparition appeared at the gate? If so thank you so much for Sexy Sauron... You made the statement "If evil why sexy" valid all the more 😭👍🏼 Edit: Silly me I got my answer at 1:11 mark so heck yeah thanks man. But you're wrong about RoP, even I as a non-TLOTR fan hated that show that's not at all canon.
The best thing to come out of this (great looking) hot garbage of a show with awful writing, story development, and dialogue is amazing work (as demonstrated in this video) inspired by it. Love your work. Thanks for sharing and inspiring! And there's absolutely no shame in liking what you like! My expectations were just kinda high, I guess.
This is beyond any praise. Getting into the book image 10/10. The work was done at an excellent technical level. It also turned out to be very unique, and not plagiarism from the Shadow of Mordor. What a pity that in the new series from Amazon we will not see something like this. I would like to see Morgoth in your performance. Or Sauron in armor from movies and Shadow of Mordor game.

I don't think it's fair for you to say the creators haven't worked hard. You're allowed to not like the show or even the style of the work but they did work hard.
I haven't watched Rings of Power, but I grew up with Lord of the Rings and was pretty interested in seeing the "new" version of Sauron when it was spoiled and let me tell ya....I was incredibly disappointed lol Now THIS, this is how I envisioned Sauron! The sculpt is *amazing*, I love the details on his clothes and how the hair came out, I also really appreciated that you showed your references, great work! Sucks that I can't like this video more than once😂
@Agent Darkbootie That's about the only thing that will convince me to watch, I really don't like the actor they choose for Sauron, even if it's just one of his human-like forms. I heard the writing is not good, but I've watched Star Wars and Marvel movies...I would easily ignore bad writing to look at hot people lol
Awesome work! Blender just got an update to the hair system in 3.3, however you have to fiddle with geo nodes to get xgen like results. For now, xgen is just far simpler to use for grooming.
@@artofjhill blender fanboys irk me 🤦 they never hesitate to say blender is the best software on the market without ever trying anything else. Maya is buggy, convoluted and obtuse, but its still production ready in a way that vanilla blender still only scratches the surface of. Personally I'm a cinema 4d man for most stuff myself... The new hair tools do peak my interest but I'll be ready to use them when they work with guide curves AND sculpt brushes.

@@artofjhill Hell yeah!! Thats an incredibly hard question because there are so many cool characters, but if I had to choose one I would maybe a more obscure character like Patchface from the books.
