Nice! End of July and August is prime time to visit! Check out the brokerage I work for, Alaska1strealty for rentals. They book up quick but maybe you get hooked up!
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures yea we usually do around 10 days in late August, but I want to hit the Russian and Kenai for Salmon. Now that we both work from home we can do longer periods until we get something built on our property in Nikiski. What do you consider the prime 4-5 weeks to be there ? I’ll take a look at that brokerage
@@gregburlile1757 The Russian river is a June thing mostly but is still worth fishing all summer, the fish just get dark. July 20 through the end of August is the prime time for everywhere and all kinds of fishing.
Question. When rigging your fly reel for fishing on the river. Can you use braid ? If so what pound strength. Or do you use mono only ? If so what pound strength ?
We never use anything bigger than 20lb. 17 lb is nice too but cuts your hands easier. 20lb monofilament is my favorite size for all salmon fishing here.
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures my Dad and I are going in October. We’re planning on fishing for some silver salmon. Do you have any experience fishing the Susitna River?
Why aren’t you fishing? We are use to seeing you with a rod in hand. Your best videos are the ones with you fishing and giving tips/advice. Have you had chance to try those flies at any other places?
It’s hard to do a live stream holding the camera and fishing at the same time! I’ll be out on the water soon enough and will get hooked up with one of your creations. Shouldn’t be hard now with all these fish coming in.
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures I understand the whole not enough hands for live stream. I’d like to meet up with you for a beer at the kenai brewery one day when I’m there. Just a thanks for trying the one of the creations. lol.
I hear that! Summertime is always busier than anyone really wants when the fish are coming in! Don’t fret though, the fish will still be here Sunday and beyond. We should see excellent sockeye fishing everywhere around soldotna for the next 5 weeks or so…
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures also, I wanted to thank you for your video tutorial on flossing setups. I made some rigs just as you described and caught 5 sockeye on my way through Soldotna last week. Worked like a charm! 😊
There’s still a ton of fish in the river. Typically about 2 million go up each season. So, I’d think the other half of the run is still headed this way.
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures thank you! You have eased my fears. Also thank you for your help with advice and trying out my creations. Hopefully we can meet up next week at some point.
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures well the plug was higher up than the fisherman yesterday.. most were down at cenntenial and swiftwater while the plug was hitting bings...keeping the hoards a couple days behind is always a good thing.. two years ago the plug came in sunday evening and monday while weekend crowds left cause lack of fish and dipped with 6 other boats and got 130 fish in a few hours...sometimes you can keep it hush and not deal with the hoards of poeple and those are the only days i enjoy anymore on the peninsula..

The Framing Hamer as the Bonker! 😂😮😊
lol right!!😂
Thanks for the report
Oh for sure! The river is packed full and ready for harvesting

You can use braid if you want and some people do! I prefer using 20lb monofilament however.
Oh wow! We have a fishing trip in kenai in a few days. What day was this? I know that the count was almost 200k on July 17.
This was filmed live on the morning of July 17. Absolutely insane amount of fish!
Great report Ryan!!!
This was a fun walk down the beach! Fish fish fish everywhere! What an awesome day 😎🎣
Fish on baby…I’m heading down tomorrow morning with my son first time ever.
Good luck and enjoy making those memories! Should be a rockin good time for you guys!
Dang I was out there just got back to Anchorage. Got 27 in 3 hours
Gotta love the days where the fish stack up and the dipping is fun!🤩
On a plane now, be in Anchorage in the morning, how do you think the flossing is going to be in Sterling the next few days
Welcome to town! Sterling is getting loaded up with fish big time right now! You should be right on time 👍🏻
What size test line are you using on your rods?
We never use anything bigger than 20lb.

That's what im talking about! A lil practice with the right setup and anyone can fill a freezer! Great work!
Omg!
I see the fish count has dropped drastically since the 190,000 Will it continue to stop or stabilize? Have I missed the run again? T-4 days
