I was surprised to also learn that my Mini Sewing Machine could sew stretch and woven jean fabric, along with many other fabrics! Appropriate needle and thread for the fabric does wonders! I worked in an alteration shop and I'll share a tip with you. Hammer the flat fell seam before sewing it. The heat generated from hammering it, softens the seam for easier sewing, and it flattens it for easier insertion under the presser foot. After hammering, I am able to sew over the flat fell seam by slowly turning my handwheel; as long as I'm using a thinner jean fabric.

Hi there, yes I do mean an honest-to-goodness toolbox hammer!😆 Having said that, I would caution you against buying it if you just want to hem jeans. I did a full video on the technical reasons why. If you go down the list for the one regarding denim, you'll get your answer. If you can afford to do so, I would highly recommend the Singer heavy duty for jeans. I have videos on that too, just have a browse. Good luck!

So, I really enjoyed this video. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but it does somewhat answer some of the questions I have about these mini machines. 4 layers of denim is pretty fantastic for such a small, seemingly fragile machine. What I was wondering was whether or not this machine would have the ability to attach a stripe of fabric down the outer seam on the outside of a pair of slacks (like military and peace officer dress slacks? The underfolded hem on either side of the striping could be folded once (as it is hidden) or twice (standard). Attaching this stripe would be most complicated across the opening edge of the pocket (which itself would be likely 4 layers), as well as down the hem. The stripe would actually be folded into the hem and hidden (adding new layers to the hem). An additional complication would be how much trouser leg material you can get between the foot and neck of the machine. I will search more of your videos to see if you have anything like it (adding striping, piping, or in/outer seams). If you don't, do you think it would be possible to create an example? Thank you!
I'm also thinking about that, but on my mom's high-speed machine we usually do is we have a small hammer, we used to carefully hit the folded demin using small hammer to make it soft and start stitching.
If you are using denim, it is best to use a denim needle which is thicker and more robust and can pierce through multiple layers of denim. Hope this helps.
Hi mam, iam facing a problem with my machine. The thread is winding and getting stuck on the thread pickup lever after a little sewing , and then it continues to work properly if i manually remove the knot. Please help me.
Although the tugging doesn't seem to affect the stitching, it might become a problem inthe future because of the "tug". It gives the feeling of overworking the machine because of it.
What I mean by "tugging" is that along the way of the pickup lever rising, the lever gets stuck just a little bit. That you can feel the "tug" for maybe 0.5 secs during the raise and it makes that struggling noise.
You'll excuse me from the side. The needle and bobbin housing may be out of timing. I had a similar problem with my mini sewing machine and solved it by fixing the timing. The timing may shift even during use. Check out her video playlist.
I tried this last year when I turned my bell bottoms into semi-skinny jeans. I was also surprised when my mini sewing machine did the denim job but I cannot hem it because of the flat fell seam so I left it as is. I still wear it tho I just have to be careful laundering that jeans of mine

Heyy are you in the US? Make sure the warranty is in place and you get a relatively popular brand like KPCB tech... get good quality Gutermann thread and never use the thread they provide in the box. Good luck!
Aah Knives this little thing will make it nigh impossible to alter jeans. The side seams are flat- felled with multiple layers. Even if you do a simple side seam, the bottom hem will be impossible to do cos you're looking at a mountain of denim layers. I speak about this near the end of this video. If the bottom hem is not super important, you could just snip it to size using pinking shears but it won't give you a finished look... Really ideally you need a denim sewing machine you know...
ok i sew denim, the problem is not how many layer, its the fold between two peace's. Demonstrate on sewing a full complete hem folded twice between two peace's . that's where you are most likely the hit a problem.

Don't buy this machine, it's 90% made of plastic. The bobbin rotator also cracked by thread pressure in my sewing machine.. and now it is totally unusable..

Wouldnt ironing the seam have the same effect but be a little easier. Typically ironing is what i do

You will need a thick needle. Think 110/18.

I did some checkups and basic troubleshooting. I checked on the tension and it is just fine. I also have a good thread.
