    Ha! Pascagoula native here! I've actually seen UFOs. One I saw right where those guys were abducted above the Pascagoula bridge, right above where you're standing in the intro. One I've never heard described anywhere else It was like a ring in the sky and it had four lights on it. It was also very low, like 100 ft above the bridge. It was also like 5:00 p.m. so it's still light outside. Me and my ex saw it. Very strange. I've also seen one up in lucedale. That one was one of the triangle crafts with the lights on the bottom. Anyway, thanks for stopping by! 😊

    When I retired my life flashed before me and with it was a repressed memory of 45 years ago. It was an encounter with a craft hovering silently above some powerlines in a then rural area. I was about to write it off as a false memory when I decided to Google "ufo" and where it happened. I got a Twilight Zone shock to discover there was a newspaper article where three cops saw the same thing at the same exact spot approximately 7 years after mine. On top of that a friend who was with me and has no memory of it had his own bizarre encounter at that very spot in a blizzard when he was followed by something tall, hairy and with bright blue eyes. He ditched it by hiding behind a train depot in the blizzard.

    I heard a TV report back in the day about Gulf Breeze and the UFOs. I laughed since they failed to mention that Gulf Breeze is so close to Pensacola. I went to college there back in the late 80s and and let me tell ya there were lots of military planes of all sorts flying around all the time there. I remember driving out to the beach as we carefully navigated the police speed traps in Gulf Breeze along the way to Pensacola Beach. At the beach, sometimes it felt like a war zone with all the air craft flying around. I'm not surprised that folks felt they saw all kinds of "flying objects."

    That was a very good tour. I grew up riding that road in my dad's blue 65 Caddy on weekends, and you gave a very good driving tour.
    I haven't been on Hwy90 between Pascagoula and West Mobile in many years...since I 10 went in. I did drive a little bit in Irvington last year. Blast from the past.
    The Elberta trip was really good. I'll be down in Fairhope next month for Mardi Gras....I may drive over to Elberta to see the fiberglass attractions.
    I remember the UFO craze when I was 12. Then when they filmed Close Encounters in Mobile at Brooklyn Airport...it really took off. My sister in law was an extra for the landing. I ended up working in that very hangar around 1999 to 2003.
    I'd like to see the lighthouse. There was one in Biloxi in the middle of Hwy 90 and there used to be one in Gulf Shores on the beach highway (it was removed).
    The tallest that's open is at the NAS in Pensacola at Barrancas. They open it sometimes. It can be 95F at the base and 50F at the top of there is a strong wind.

    They want the tags back and the location, time and day they were caught so they can use the number on the tag to track where it was tagged and released. This tells the authorities how far this fish traveled since it was tagged. It also tells them how much it has grown in what period of time. It helps them establish mortality and migration statistics for the species. No one is targeting certain species of fish just to get a tagged one. It is purely by chance but no one would know to report it if they did not have up the signs. I hope that helps you understand what it is all about.

    Jacob, great video. But...bless your heart! You began with UFO stories, you ended with UFO stories, and then, right behind that chicken gas station, just a few feet away, is the railroad crossing from Close Encounters of the Third Kind! Your still on this video has your head blocking it! CE3K, Spielberg's best UFO feature (so much better than ET) , was filmed largely in the Mobile area. In Foley is the train station used in the film. If you've not seen CE3K, you have missed a massive classic 70s sci fi film, and a treat! Safe travels!

    I know a lot of people refuse to believe in the existence of intelligent alien life. I say that in the vastness of the universe, the notion that we are the only planet capable of supporting intelligent life is not only ignorant, but arrogant.

    • @STho205
      @STho205 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is not that so much as the possibility of intelligent life that is space faring, able to traverse vast distances despite mathematics, looking anything like humans and have compatible mental energy....that depends on your insistence of the total randomness of mutation and only natural environmental selection.....or you believe in intelligent design...or that extraterrestrial humanoids seeded Earth.
      Only the latter two ideas would support the "there's life out there anything at all like us".
      For Dawkins style evolution theory...no. We would be the result of billions of chance mutations and billions of just at the right time environmental changes (catastrophes or good periods). This to evolve a life form that is interested enough in flying to create spacecraft. For instance if dolphin, orcas, octopus were the apex intelligence selected by natural occurrence....then yes they are intelligent....no they wouldn't likely ever build spaceships. And that's just looking at Earth "evolved" species.
      Flying saucers is ironically a back door to belief in god(s) and a simple rival replacement to orthodox religion that has been growing for over 100 years.

    • @silverghostcat1924
      @silverghostcat1924 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi Jacob. I’m usually very supportive of everything you do, and I truly appreciate your content. However- I’m SUPER disappointed that you gave up on your Choose My Adventure road trip. If you were running into bad weather- why didn’t you just give us warm locations to send you to? You ended up doing that anyway. I really was looking forward to this years adventure.. then you totally stopped even talking about it. You be you, and I’m sure you have your reasons, but I feel you could have handled this better.

    • @TheCarpetbagger
      @TheCarpetbagger  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I didn’t put warmer locations to pick from because there was a literal freeze over the entire South. Literally there were no safe options. I discussed my reasoning in the videos and covered this. If this doesn’t meet your standards I guess I don’t know what to tell you. It’s really easy to complain behind a keyboard, but out in the real world weather and Mother Nature don’t always cooperate.

    Been all through that area. We actually stopped at the big chicken to get a pic of it and we have also been to Lamberts.
    You may want to check out the Train museum in Foley, AL.
    Enjoy watching your videos.
    Stay warm.

    Pascagoula is my hometown. I was personal friends with Mr Hickson and his family. Until the day he passed, he swore it was all real.
    The spot where they were abducted is actually across the river from that pier; between the small shipyard and bridge (next to the tall powerpoles). The shipyard they worked at is further south down the river (HII Ingalls) that makes Naval vessels. The one next to the abduction spot makes tugboats.
    Sadly, not much of the ligthouse is original. Much of it was lost at sea or unstable to be used. There are large chunks of it placed around the Lighthouse Park.
    Jimmy Buffet is not as admired here as many would think. He didn't claim Pascagoula as his hometown many times.
    The city changed the name of the beach, without any asking of the residents, in order to drum up some tourism money.
    Thank you for pronouncing Pascagoula correctly. "Pas Ca Goo la"
    Fun fact about the dinosaurs in the woods. When first placed, tbey had painted eyes. Mr Barber wasn't happy with them so he got Klein to come back and put the glass eyes in.
    Bamahenge, like Stonehenge, lines up with the sunrise during the summer solstice. One day, I'll get out there to experience that.

    I’m such a carboholic. That roll looks yummy. Enjoy the slightly warmer weather. It’s going to be 5 degrees in Bryson City tonight. Brrrrr. Even aliens love the beach.

    Im from Asheville Jacob but Im orignally from West Palm Beach Florida, and there is a place called Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee Fl, just west of WPB, and its a drive through wildlife preserve, and you also at the end can get out and walk around. They had the dino display for years. I dont know for sure if they still do but I think you would enjoy that place.

    There is a slight issue with your subscription, I have been subscribed to your channel for a long time and every time I check, I'm not subscribed??? Maybe this is the reason why you're seeing people viewing your videos who are not subscribed?? Everyday when I watch your video I have to subscribe again and again 🤔
