WOW The original was great but WOW 5th gets a new regeneration just like the newbies , with the yellow flames n' all . Great work especially the facial transformation - " Change my dear and it seems not a moment too soon" . -
Amazing! If any classic Doctor deserved a 2010 style regeneration, it wa Five, given how amazing Caves of Androzani is as a regeneration story. I'd love to see your take on an updated regeneration for all of the classic Doctors.
This is. . .beyond brilliant. I have no idea how you did this but it's incredible. Hopefully the show itself might be able to use similar techniques in future anniversary specials, imagine what could be achieved.
Four years on and I have not seen this masterpiece. This was wonderful On a silly note, you would think all that Timelord regenerative power might leave a few burn and scuff marks on the Doctor's costume but no it comes up crisp and clean, even after climbing over the terrain of Androzani. Brilliant work.
I actually always preferred the old classic regenerations. It always struck me as silly how in the new series they have to stand up and assume the position to regenerate, since they usually do this when they are DYING. Laying down and just glowing and changing seemed more practical to me. What if you are unconscious? What if your legs are broken? What if you just fell off a giant radio telescope and broke half of your skeleton? Its silly!
I personally want Whittaker's regeneration scene (Not that I want her run to be short!) to be her lying on the ground, and the golden light covers her face, replacing it with the new one. Kinda like the 6-7 regeneration.
Here's the thing, though, yeah if they're death causes them to not being able to stand up is one thing, but if you just got a giant dose of radiation, but you are able to stand up, it kinda makes more sense to be standing up, and then poof new doctor. It's not silly if you are able to stand up.
I never quite understood Nu Who's obsession with the standing T-Formation for regeneration. It's such a traumatic event and it takes such a toll on the body that the classic series's approach of having the Doctor almost always lying down on the floor seems to make more sense and is a lot more believable.
@@Ambatukakangku You mean besides it looking cool? Why does there have to be one? The showrunners wanted to have a uniform look for Regeneration in 2005, so they implemented it. No reason for an explanation. It just happened.

Actually, there is a morph effect even in the End of Time shot, although admittedly that morph is incredibly subtle considering the amount of noise on screen at that point. Crossfading is not and has not been how any new who regeneration has done. And even in Caves, the crossfade was incredibly subtle due to the noise on screen.
I just rewatched the clip from End of Time. You see David Tennant, then they add the yellow filter over his face, the face eventually gets more and more obscured until it's completely unseeable, then you can barely see Matt's face, then the yellow gradually reduces and you see the rest of his face. It's the exact same process, just with a CG yellow flame added on top. Otherwise the exact same thing since Tenth Planet. The only one that didn't do this was Time and the Rani, and that's because Colin had been unceremoniously fired at that point so only one actor filmed the regeneration.

But after that, it just became a load of bull. I’m much fonder of the classic regenerations. Although they were inconsistent, they all looked cool. And they weren’t just the lead actor exploding!
Well, the reason the 10th Doctor "exploded" into the 11th Doctor was he deliberately prevented himself from regenerating until it was too late while he got "his reward". Chances are if it happens it'll be Last Adventure audio, unless somehow Colin Baker is willing to read the opening chapter of the Time and the Rani novelisation which itself has the regeneration scene as it was originally intended.

THIS IS TOO GOOD! This is amazing! Just....BRAVO! BRAVO! This is BRILLIANT!
Ok, really not wanting to be a pest, but after seeing this masterpiece (And if the guys from the DW Magazine and the Doctor Who youtube channel doesn't mention you after this, then they are out of their minds.), I just want you to, please, please, consider a "The Sixth Doctor regenerates, except the year is 2013 (11th)"! It would be the nearest thing we would have to a live action adaptation of the last chapter of Spiral Scratch.(I know, I know, probably won't never happen 'cuz lack of footage, but the possibilities, man, think about the possibilities!)
Chances are if it happens it'll be Last Adventure audio, unless somehow Colin Baker is willing to read the opening chapter of the Time and the Rani novelisation which itself has the regeneration scene as it was originally intended.
Dbn I believe the Last Adventure audio would work more than fine. That, some of his dialogue from S22, S23 and his other audios for something similar to the "We all change" speech (latter two also applied for some of Mel's dialogue.)
I'm just here to spread appreciation for The Last Adventure.
Colin is a brilliant Doctor. He has great chemistry with River, too.
Spectacular!
