for people wanting to take a gap year, my advice is to make sure you use your time well. a year isn't a long time, however, getting back into the mindset of studying after a year of doing nothing can be really harsh. i took one this past year partially, and i had a few courses i had already passed, but wanted to get better grades at and i did volunteerings relating to my area of choice. the lack of pressure to pass helped me keep an open schedule to travel and figure my mental health out, but there was enough work to keep myself disciplined and not get into the habit of just doing whatever and having no schedule whatsoever. if you're thinking about doing it and feel like it's the best option for you, go ahead. a year doesn't set you back and it can help you make better decisions in the future, but do keep a schedule and make sure you don't just sit around all day and do nothing

I did a gap year too and switched from geology to business and this year was literally like your outro but the most important thing that I knew a lot about myself Love you ♡
I can only suggest everyone to choose a major firstly bc you enjoy the topic not bc you think it will make you money. I study history and there are a lot of jobs in that field that I only ever noticed while studying. I had no idea about all the options in the field bc I wasn’t in it. Don’t let others tell you this or that major is pointless, they have no clue about it since they are not in it.
If you don’t want seasonal depression you should try those lights that you sit in front of for 30 minutes and they act like sunlight and cure your seasonal depression.
I didn’t have a full gap year but only a half a gap- but even in that short span I am proud I made the decision to step away from my original program and I have learned to really trust myself and prioritize my health
