I have had my Venu 2 since last Tuesday. This is my favorite watch ever. For reference I have had 2 apple watches the Galaxy watch 3 and the Fitbit sense. This one out classes them all.
Hi I am tossing between Venu 2 vs Galaxy Watch3. Reading the comments below, look like you guys recommend Venu 2 compare to Galaxy Watch3. if you can shed some light on the why. Thanks in advance!
The Venus 2 is an awesome watch especially if you can get it on sale. Right now (fall 2023) Garmin has them discounted by $100. I have a Fenix 7X and I love that watch but I'm realizing that its just too bulky for daily use - especially for sleeping. I plan on using the Venu 2 for daily use, sleeping, work, and travel. If I lose it or it gets damage I won't be too upset. My Fenix 7X, on the other hand, will be my dedicated outdoor sports watch which I use several times per week. For anyone new to smartwatches (sport watches in particular) I would highly recommend this model and not the lower-end Garmin models which are missing many features. The Venus 2 does almost everything my Fenix 7X does at a much, much lower price. It also has a beautiful AMOLED screen that even my beloved Fenix 7X doesn't have.
Big plus for some who wants to start to be more fit, is Garmin coach. It will create a training plan and adjust to your fitness level with an aim to improve your stats. Good stuff
This is the first video I’ve watched from this channel and out of all the other videos I’ve watched on this watch, this is the best. Thanks for the good content, it’s informative and quick to the point
You just gave me a head-slap moment. I take my Garmin off while showering and lay it on the counter top right below an outlet. Never crossed my mind to get a charger/cable and charge it while showering. Thanks
great review, and really helpful. just wanna ask, have you tried using Venu 2/2s in and open water swim? is it safe for saltwater swim also? thanks a lot
So is 2S situated for men in term of size? I have a small wrist, but vivosmart in small/medium size happened to be too small for me - I use the one before last hole in the strap and it's inconvenient. Each and every review of 2S show them from the top only.
Mike, do you expect the Vivoactive 5, assuming it will be a clone of this Venu 2 with a different screen and case, will be lower in price? Was that the pattern with the Venu 1/VA4?
I had a garmin vivoactive 3 , whilst looking for an upgrade ,I noticed amazon were doing a deal of paying over 5 months for the garmin vivoactive 4 so I got it . After 2 weeks of using the vivoactive 4 ,I noticed poor battery and poor touch response, its has been boxed up for return. I have now opted to buy the garmin venu 2 which is about 80 quid more.
Something that I’m interested in is the temperature sensor. Does it tell you anything useful? More specifically do you know any women who use the watch - I want to know if the average temperature readings it takes at night are able to accurately predict the start of menstrual cycle…
Great review! If I may make a suggestion though, could please you stress how few phones the Galaxy watches will actually work with when you review one in the future? After seeing many reviews I decided to buy one to use with my Galaxy Tab S6 but it turns out Samsung Wearable does not support pairing with any of their tablets. It would pair with my Sony Xperia phone but the Samsung Health app wasn't compatible with it which kinda made the watch useless for me. So I returned it and got this Garmin instead. I do miss some of the smartwatch features that Samsung offered (even though I personally wasn't able to use them) but it's such a delight that it works with everything I pair it with and does what it does so well that I got over that quickly. It is pretty pricey but if you can afford it I would say go for it, it really is an awesome watch.
Hi Mike - I purchased a Venu Sq music version - do you feel it is worth the upgrade to the Venu 2s? My draw is to the display and the wiget summaries on the watch vs the Venu Sq. I am NOT an athlete, just fitness tracking. Thank you
I am a senior now and the most important things to me on the watch are the Sleep app, and the health and heart rate apps. I do love all the fancy fun stuff too, but my sleep and heart monitor is the most important. What are maybe 3 top picks I should look into.? Thank you. James in Texas
The venu 2 uses Garmin's latest version of their Elevate heart rate sensor, their most accurate to date. Secondly the Venu 2 is using Garmin's new sleep tracking algorithms from when they acquired First day technology, so it also has their most advanced sleep tracking they offer.
Venu 2 or 2s or 2sq? And whitch size do you wear in your videos? My wrist are small and have a bit fear that the 45mm sizes of the watches are too big for me. Thanks for your awesome video of Venu 2, 2s and 2sq
i was interested, until you mentioned that there are no microphone and speakers. then i thought that the price might reflect that. but it doesn't. there is no way to justify 400$ for a watch that cannot accept a call when your hands are tight - that is a great selling point for most of these devices.
The bezel are good for keeping your watch a safe, I have the galaxy watch active 2 and I bought a case for it since having no bezel really freaked me out
Hi. You mentioned connecting with spotify premium, which is fine with me, what I also found it says you can 'download up to 650 songs'. Does it mean that it downloads Spotify playlists offline OR you can basically download any music there? Apologies for my ignorance
Hey Mike, great review btw! I am new into smart watches.. bought the amazfit t-rex pro as my first smart watch and i am eager for an upgrade.. I would say my first priority would be health and fitness tracking (sleep, SPO2, HR, ECG if possible.. etc).. and I am down to a tie breaker between fitbit charge 5 (with fitbit premium) and venu 2s... any comments or views on that?
Hey Mike, I want to get new Wireless over ears, and those are my options: - Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 - JBL CLUB 950NC - Beats by Dr. Dre Studio 3 (I'm using a Samsung, not an iPhone) If you have another recommendation, let me know. But basically I only use them at home, so I don't need a perfect ANC... A good sound, wear comfort and a simple handling are key for me.
I think the 399$ price tag is way to high, when you consider the other options I got my Galaxy Watch 3 on sale for 280$, I know that this Garmin is better at tracking, but the question is, is it 119$ better tracking? Or is just slightly better tracking?
I've had all galaxy watches in my lifetime and I always loved the features. However, after 6 months with all my galaxy watches, the battery shorts to shrink or "die" so now I have 2 $300 Samsung watches thay I can't even use and it sucks. To be fair though, I've only had this watch for 5 days and I am so impressed with it! It still has 2 days or estimated battery so far and I've used it suuuper heavily. The tracking so far is extremely accurate. The sleep tracking is one of my favorite features as well as the quick text feature. Overall, in my opinion it trumps Samsung. (Also I'm a die hard Samsung fan)
i have got the old venu for myself and my wife and a week later the new venu 2 debuted, damn... then again the question is, should one upgrade to the new one, mike?
Whats the best budget standalone smartwatch to receive and make phone calls and do you know why Samsung Galaxy 2 active watch battery has so many issues and can Samsung resolve the problem.
You mentioned several days of battery life hitting it pretty hard. Did you use always-on display? I use AOD and keep automatic Pulse Ox off, but would never get five days, maybe a little more than two days. I'm happy there's a watch with an OLED screen that goes more than a day. Samsung and Wear OS watches won't make it a full day for me. I have the original Venu and the Venu 2, and have grown to like these watches.
@@StephRenee812 Are you saying use 30% brightness instead of auto-brightness? I'll try that and see if it makes a difference. Pretty sure I've tried that before and still get a little more than two days.
I have both they are 2 totally different watches, I am keeping both one for hikes and great outdoors and the Venu 2 for an everyday watch. It has some awesome features on it and looks great. Screen is amazing and again totally different to the Fenix screens which are great outside but limited on inside.....
Hi, 1. Is it normal that the distance measurement for cycling is more accurate than for running? The same route, but a different result: ideal for cycling: 10 km, for jogging 9.87 km. 2. The current pace displayed during your run is not correct at all. I run at a pace of around 5:30 (what is correctly summed up after each kilometer), and during the Venu 2 run, it shows a time over 6 minutes (6:40 or even 7 min). What can be wrong?
Ad (1) multiple resource discussed this and it seems the reason might be the position of the watch itself. During cycling, the watch usually faces the sky, which might help to get a better signal compared to the side position while running.
I'm struggling to decide if to buy the Venu or Venu 2s. The Venu is larger (older model?) but the Venu 2s is £100 more!! I want to track steps, fitness and calories burned so not sure its worth more money to get a slightly smaller watch with a white strap rather than sand. any thought will be appreciated
Have always used the fitbit. Moet recent the sense. Lots and lots of problems and finally bought the Venu2S. Please help me out, the fitbit has an average HRV LEVEL. I’m looking to get me wife a Garmin for Christmas. I’m trying to decide between the Venu 2s and the Vivoactive 4s. Any recommendations on which is better please?
Not sure if you made a decision, but the 2s is better. I myself bought a sport then a 4s and returned. Awaiting the 2s. If you go on Garmin website you can compare the specs. The 4s screen put me off. Just looks a bit crap for these days and what other companies offer.
Hi, have a question when jogging without cell phone: If you listen to music offline while jogging the watch interrupts the music transmission and makes announcements such as average speed, etc. to the Bluetooth headphones even if you do not have a phone with you?
Hey Mike...how good is this watch when when put up against the Galaxy watch active 2... It may b a year or more older than the Venu 2 but I think it has it all n a also a fabilous display but costs almost half...what do u say?
As a former Galaxy Active 2 watch owner, I will say the Galaxy Active 2 is NOT water resistant. I'm hoping my new Venu 2 will fit the bill. I love it so far! I used my Galaxy Active 2 for swimming in the pool, it crashed and the warranty didn't cover the repair stating it had liquid damage! Go figure, since it touts as a swimming watch! Mike, Im a former Apple watch guy. Im torn between the Garmin Venu 2 and the Ticwatch 3 Pro Ultra. Im mildly active, though I hope to change that. Also, I like cool and good looking tech. Im also an “always on display” kinda guy. Any thoughts?
Hey! Hey! Mike. Nice, very nice my mate. Classic look always works. I spent days trying to decide between this (the large version) and the Samsung watch. I went Samsung in the end. Now I've gone rotating bezel I don't think I can ever go back. I just hope Sammy do an Android Wear watch later this year as some rumours are espousing? Tizen app store is a bad and grim place. Great review O.B. Many thanks. Go easy.
Nice review, I am wondering how does it work for sleep tracking. Galaxy watches have very intuitive good night mode that turn on and off on its own. Not sure what is the implementation for Garmin Venu 2.
I also wish that these watches were square instead of being round. Text would just fit better and the watch would fit on the forearm better, since it's the same shape.
I would pick the Garmin Venu 2 over the Sense everyday. From my testing, the Sense was fun to use and had a lot of potential, but without accuracy, I couldn't trust the insights
I've just got the 2s and on my first cycle the battery is quite far behind the 6 days you mention here. I have Pulse Ox off and it went for 4 days. I am wondering if it is a faulty unit or if it was because it was the first cycle.
@@Shralps thanks! only used GPS for 1 hour and 2 other non GPS workouts. On cycle 2 now and keeping my eye on it as I did mess about with it a lot at the start.

However, was skeptic abt how it's stacks up against the Galaxy smart watches, esp in the display department... What do u say? Is it good for the price? Because, in India it costs almost double of what a Galaxy watch active2 wud...
What is the name of the watch face? I really like it.
Brian, i'm physician usually see my watch to calculate pulse / heart rate patient, which i need sec arrow mostly in half minute. Which one do u prefer, venu 2 or 2s?
Is Spotify the only music service it’s compatible with?
Nope! It works with Deezer, mp3 files, etc.
What a fine review!
Mike,
Im a former Apple watch guy.
My sleep tracking has been suuuper accurate so far! In fact, i love the little tips it gives me based on my sleep rankings. Phenomenal in my opinion
I also wish that these watches were square instead of being round. Text would just fit better and the watch would fit on the forearm better, since it's the same shape.
Great review! Thanks.
This is the perfect fitness watch for me. With a small size option and it’s barely a smart watch. Im really not into having my phone into my watch
So Garmin Venu 2s Vs Fitbit Sense ? - Thoughts?
I would pick the Garmin Venu 2 over the Sense everyday. From my testing, the Sense was fun to use and had a lot of potential, but without accuracy, I couldn't trust the insights
Remember , with Fitbit you have to pay a monthly fee to get access to
your own data from the watch YOU ALREADY PAID FOR, SCREW Fitshit.
Hairs on my wrist can mess up HR? shit do I have to shave my arm if I want an accurate hr?
Kindly review the Amazfit Neo too.
I've just got the 2s and on my first cycle the battery is quite far behind the 6 days you mention here. I have Pulse Ox off and it went for 4 days. I am wondering if it is a faulty unit or if it was because it was the first cycle.
Hard to say as it depends on your usage. GPS in particular drains batteries fast.
@@Shralps thanks! only used GPS for 1 hour and 2 other non GPS workouts. On cycle 2 now and keeping my eye on it as I did mess about with it a lot at the start.
Does it connect with Deezer?
