Sopranos 👏👏👏 for me game of thrones could be up there if it ended after series 4. Don’t feel it had the consistent quality throughout in the same way sopranos/the wire does

I agree, but GOT later seasons did push production values of TV and somewhat redefined what TV is/can be.

Seasons 1 - 4 were definitely the best, most dense and intricate seasons from a writing and storytelling perspective. Seasons 5 and 6 I still consider very good with some absolutely incredible episodes and individual scenes and moments, but the first seasons where some flaws and signals of what may lay ahead become apparent. Season 7 is the first season which is more bad than good. And Season 8 is just disgustingly atrocious.
