    Thanks, I just got into surfskating and my first couple rides were like "oh, this is fun!" but then found out as much as I was having fun, I was developing bad habits by doing the "fish squiggle" like if I was riding a Ripstik. I don't come from a surfing background so this is something completely new to me, seems like it will be a fun form of exercise. Riding this way felt a lot more graceful, this video was certainly helpful.

    Shane, there are several other ways to Surfskate pump that I also use that I haven't really seen anyone else using. Lateral rotational pumping and swing pumping, are a couple ways I've developed. Both very fun, useful, and adds additonal possibilities to your style quiver. For lateral rotational pumping, imagine the trucks do not lean or turn and you only have the swing pivot such as on a Meraki, smoothstar, or similar. Squat down a little, lock your stance and simply rotate your lower body clockwise and counterclockwise, back and forth without allowing the board to lean. This is an extremely efficient way to pump as no energy is wasted in leaning the board and accelerates very quickly once you build up strength to be able to pump this way with good power. Swing pumping is super fun and adds a lot of style to your riding. To do this you simply swing your lower body/legs forward like a pendulum, forward into the carve as your pumping so the board and your legs are going infront of your upper body. Kinda hard to explain, but your throwing your legs and board infront of you, as you pump and carve. I'm going to upload some demonstration videos soon

    I learned it all alone, think it's a logical process. You first move the arms like a fool and when you gain balance, you automaticaly start to squat that makes improve your flow and power.

Do you believe u can pump for more speed than the CX ? I liked the CX as well. Took alittle more time to speed up, but i felt i got some speed on them . What's your thoughts? 😎

    I just started surfskate a week ago. I totally feel that I am front foot heavy. It's killing my left thigh. Thing is, the park where I practice is at a slight incline, so I have to pump harder to move. Do you think that this is a bad place to practice? If I don't do big lateral movements, I don't move.

    Hi Shane, just got a Carver C7 mini simms and starting to learn pumping. For less effortless pumping, should the spring bolt be adjusted loose to the extent that the arm hits both stops without effort or there should be some tension? How should I adjust the rear trucks, any tips/guidance based on individual weight as I know it can be subjective for the best set up. I weigh around 115 lbs so pretty light weight. Tks Bro

    • @shanelai2515
      @shanelai2515  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a general guidance:
      the tighter the spring, the more forward push you get in 1 pump
      The looser the spring, the easier the turn, but less forward push, so you will rely more on the back foot to generate speed
      Back truck should be roughly same tightness as front or a little tighter
      Experiment and find what you like best 😊
