Australia. Then travel to Bali for extended holidays. You don’t have to move anywhere, and still have the advantage of family within your circle. Im not quite sure there is any advantage of moving to another country especially within Asia. No medicare. Limited facilities. Limited medical advantage - none really. And you are reaching a vulnerable age. Seems to me that cheap food, cheap accommodation, and random shopping is a very shallow reason to move into Asia. That sounds like a holiday to me. But I am battling to see the point given your experience.
@ everyone is different and this is my opinion as we have been in both locations Living costs are cheaper in Asia than western country for sure In regards to health care as in AUS you can get health insurance and if health declines you back to your home country
@@roamingRichard - Yes everyone is different. I would check on whether medicare is still available if you are living in another country. And it depends upon the seriousness of the health issue. Given you are talking retirement, most of your audience would be at a retirement age (67+) so hips, joints in general, heart issues and preventative medicare for seniors are not readily available. I get your point about cheaper living, but that all depends on the individual and their financial position. You have made a lot of videos and they have been very informative and optimistic, but at the moment it seems both Bali and Vietnam are not for you. @roamingRichard I did a quick look, and it seems like getting a retirement visa is pretty hard. Higher age limit (60+) and a lot of cash in a bank account.

Da Nang reminds.me.of the Gold Coast full of high rises, nice beach but more for a holiday. I love Sanur for all the reasons you stated. I had looked at villas pre covid and it was so cheap! Not the case now. Also the over tourism seems to be a bit of an issue but more so around Canggu and Seminyak. It is a shame the Indonesian government doesn't spend more on upgrading the infrastructure and limiting the amount of development.
It makes it hard when retiring if you have to keep moving, but I guess it is what it is. It gives you a chance to keep exploring new places and maybe over time, you'll hopefully find a couple of nice spots that you can alternate with.
Thankyou for your video's we really enjoy them Richard.. It seems you really enjoyed the Bali life, have you considered maybe moving to Ubud, its lovely there 😊
Thanks, Richard. What a really good video showing the comparisons of the two. I think the biggest downfall of Sanur is the cost of accommodation, as you mentioned. It's still on the increase along with hotel tariffs. They are phenominal atm.
@@Abundant_Living_Today Da Nang we have found tourist areas are cleaner Not sure what pollution is like in Sanur ATM but Da Nang there isn’t much at all ATM
Hey Guys, how are you both. We have booked to go to Sanur and Ubud this October. Really excited. Haven't been since lockdown. Your stay in Vietnam has been interesting but decided it's not for us even for a holiday, so thank you. May I ask, do you miss a home base yet?. Do you think that after a few months traveling you may enjoy your villa again in Sanur? Don't mean to offend you by asking. My hubby and I watched you this morning and wondered if you might return eventually now you've had a break away from the situation that upset you. Anyway, take care 😊
Have not been to Danang yet but from what I see on your video's and others. place looks clean, beach's look clean and the city doesn't look to crowded. First time I was in Bali was in 1989 it was a great place to Holiday. Now it's just dirty beach's ,streets and people hassling you to buy everywhere and I was there at the start of covid 2019 and all the locals said it was empty and to slow. But like I said yet to go to Danang. 11 week to ago.
You can't compare a Island with a working city in a country. Sanur to me IMO isn't a retirement place, it's too small and its a holiday spot. Danang is a main city in a country. You can rent monthly and you are not asked for 20 years rent upfront. So it depends on what you are looking for. Thailand is huge in the sex trade and its quite seedy in some places at night. I prefer Vietnam over Thailand. We looked into retiring in Malaysia but ultimately we retired in Australia and love living near our Grandchildren. I would not retire in any country that only gives you 3 months at a time.
We live in Australia and are looking to retire. We love going to Sanur and Ubud. But I don't think I could retire anywhere else although when my electricity bill comes and the cost of living here it does sound very tempting.😊 . If I lived in Bali, I would just find long term rentals, something nice. I wouldn't buy a long lease. But that's just us, but in reality, and my hubby and I talk about it all the time, we will just stay here near family and go over a few times a year for a couple of months . We love traveling but need a home base.
If you are considering retiring, where is the destination you are choosing ?
