- Filmed by TheCoasterViews. Blast off on a thrilling tour of the Star Wars universe aboard a Starspeeder 1000. Voyage to amazing alien worlds, and come face to face with the likes of Princess Leia and Darth Vader in this HD POV!
The ride that became Star Tours first saw light as a proposal for an attraction based on the 1979 Disney live-action film The Black Hole. It would have been an interactive ride-simulator attraction where guests would have had the ability to choose the route. However, after preliminary planning the Black Hole attraction was shelved due to its enormous cost-approximately $50 million USD-as well as the unpopularity of the film itself.
Instead of completely dismissing the idea of a simulator, the company decided to make use of a partnership between Disney and George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, that began in 1986 with the opening of Captain EO (a 3-D musical film starring Michael Jackson) near Space Mountain. Disney then approached Lucas with the idea for Star Tours. With Lucas' approval, Disney Imagineers purchased four military-grade flight simulators at a cost of $500,000 each and designed the ride structure.

The original Star Tours attraction closed in 2010 to be refurbished in 2011 as The Adventures Continue (which is the subject of this video). The POV of the original is on the End screen, if you want to compare.
The ride is always a random experience for each ride. At the 2015 D23 Expo, it was announced that a desert planet called Jakku from The Force Awakens would be added to the attraction. The new adventure became available beginning November 16, 2015. The mineral planet Crait from The Last Jedi and Batuu, the remote outpost forest and mountain planet from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, were added to the attraction on November 17, 2017. The ocean moon Kef Bir from The Rise of Skywalker was added to the ride on December 20, 2019, the film's release date along with Exegol, another planet from The Rise of Skywalker.
In April 2023, Imagineer Scott Trowbridge announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe IV that more scenes (based on Mandalorian, Andor, and Ahsoka) would be added to the Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris iterations of the attraction, which occurred on April 5, 2024.
I remember when I turned 5 i went with my mom and dad to Disney land, I don’t remember my whole trip but the most memorable were the pirates of the Caribbean and this one. I was never a big fan of Star Wars as a kid but I remember loving c-3po. I was so happy running down the steps after the ride, I can remember it so vividly. I looked back at my dad who was just surprised by how happy I was. I miss him very much and wish he was still here so we could have those moments again.
What a great memory to last you a lifetime! Some of the most magical moments happen at the theme park especially Disney. So glad you have this one of your dad.
You know it’s a fun ride when everyone on board says “B U H B Y E”
“Thank you for flying star tours. Buh-Bye”
Everyone onboard: “BUH BYE”
I love the sound of the access bridges coming down. 9:21
The thing I like about this is it's almost never the same thing twice. They have 600+ ways the ride goes.
DJ Nuah Actually, there’s only 50 combinations
But, each scene is played slightly different.
@@bitchass7198 r/whoosh
I love that ride, because they take a picture of a different person each time and call them a rebel spy
+Dan Man There are also 100 different scenarios, So expect your ride to be different every time like you would with tower of terror's random algorithm.
Lass Bisharp I’ve been on this ride twice and got picked both times 😂 I was dressed up as Ray the 1st time and the second time was for a school trip
When I rode it the ride did that to my uncle 😂
My sister got chosen as the rebel spy.
Yeah, imagine just vibin' then suddenly learn you're being chased by Vader 😂
HAVE. TO. GO. THERE. Coz I love star wars SO much
Thank you for showing this ride. I didn’t get a chance to go this year but I found your video and felt like I was on this ride. It felt so real and I can’t thank you enough for capturing all the wonderful things about it in this video. Thank you! It absolutely made my day :)
perfect timing on the fireworks
Damn this ride used to be my favorite when I was younger And It’s Still Is!
It would be awesome if they had a second version of the Hoth scene, but with the Millennium Falcon flying with us.
I got the Millennium Falcon the last time around on Disneyland Paris, but with Rey piloting it on Jakku...
OMG the fireworks show that was playing when you came out is wishes! I love that show the best one ever! Great vid can't wait to go again
3rdbest ride at Disneyland and the best simulator I have ever rode
man oh man this ride has been around for a while haha. Im from New Zealand and went to USA back in 1998, and this was the first ride i ever went on at disneyland
Love this one. Can't wait to return!
Very good!
I give this ride an A+
I went to Disneyland earlier this year and this was my favorite ride! And now I'm going back for christmas!
STAR TOURS IS SO COOL NOW! ♥♥♥
yea it is
Ha! You almost hit the yellow fuel truck at the end. Awesome callback to the original.
I went in this. It's truly a lifetime experience.
Happy 100th Anniversary, Disney!
Unfortunately, unlike the original Star Tours, this Star Tours relies on CGI. However, one thing that this Star Tours has over the original Star Tours is...
Unpredictability
In that, you never know what you're gonna see every time you go on the ride.
You can start off by either running into Darth Vader or some Storm Troopers
Then you go into Hyperspace and crash land on either Hoth, Jakuu, or Tatooine
You get a transmission from either Admiral Achbar, Yoda, Princess Leia, or BB-8
And then you go into Hyperpace again and either crash land on Corrusant or Naboo
It's one of those things where you have to go on the ride a few times in order to get every single situation that they throw out there. But, that just makes the ride all the more awesome.
Yes, it breaks continuity when you go to Hoth and they recreate the battle sequence from Empire Strikes Back, and then suddenly you go to Courssouant and they recreate the opening battle for Revenge of the Sith, but that's not what the ride is suppose to be about. It's suppose to be about reliving those iconic scenes from the movies. So... screw continuity.
The coolest ride at Disneyland
I'll always miss the old ride, but this one looks amazing! I road the old one countless times when I was a kid and the thing I noticed about watching this one is that although the visuals are different, it seems to have the same movements and even some of the same lines with the old robot (not CP3O.)
I need this in my back yard
+Melody Brown lol ya
Wha?
That is a great idea
Imagine the electrical bill
Sameee
I so want to go on that ride.
Plus, what a finale for the video!
Amazing ride, was definitely a highlight on my trip. Kids will love it. Although adults might get a little sick from the moving.
epic glasses toss at the end. real forceful!
Beware of those wookie cookies there chewy ❤😂
One of my favorites!!
7:28, 2 eras at the same time.
Once again, I still laughed at this kid taking a 📸 at Chewbacca like the original ride.
I love that ride it’s sooo cool
this ride is awesome
Cool video dude!
Best ride....or simulation. Afterwards I got to take a picture with some storm troopers, and that's rare
Cool! The one I went on we went to Tattoine and flew with Podracers :O
I really wanted to go back here and enjoy most rides! But since the annoying tour guide rushed us and due to a long 2-3 hour line, I can't seem to go anywhere, literally... But thanks for posting videos daily and hopefully I get a chance to arrive and visit here again. And that means that i'll have to eat more pizza's to win a trip to Disney Land.....
This ride was amazing!
Do you remember how many seats to a row it was? From the video it looked like 5 to 7 seats per row?
i say about 10 seats to a row if i remember correctly!
I love this version way better than the original
Nobody going to point out the fact that they time traveled from Episode V to Episode III?
Almost had them... Next time! TK-41066 out.
This ride has more than 1 scenery. I heard you have to ride more than 6 times to experience it all O.o
3 times, as long as you get lucky and see all 6 planets then
I love that ride!!
The ride is still there to those who are asking, i went during the christmas season a few months ago (2014, december 8-12) and the line ups really depend what time you get there, if you want short lines, be there around opening time and such, however theyve changed the ending when you park, its more like a crash into some boxes and you take out a few guys haha
Actually the ride footage is totally randomized. That's why the ride was "changed" for your visit. There are 4 chapters that each ride shows. But there are many possible combinations. Chapter 1 has 2 different spaceport escapes, Chapter 2 has 3 different planets, Chapter 3 has 3 different holograms, and Chapter 4 has 3 different endings. If you do the math, there are 54 different experiences!
losangeleskingsfan15
Thanks, It's at Disneyland, in California!
STAR TOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
QUICK JUMP INTO HYPERSPACE!
amazing ride
I wanna experience that as well. That looks absolutely incredible :))))))))
Disneyland seems like it has cooler rides than Disney World
I agree
This is also at Disney World, I road it in May this year. There's a life sized model of an At-At outside the ride.
1998232v6 oh thts waddup
It's at Disney land and Hollywood Studios in Orlando
Brundon yeah but Disneyland is the original park Walt Disney had in mind. Walt Disney world was finished way after walts death
wat are you doing here? c3po: I HAVE NO IDEA xdddd 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
even though it didnt have the 3D glasses, it was still pretty cool!!
I
It was when this ride first opened (the new one), I went with my school to Disneyland for a learning thing. My group went with two other groups on that and learning thing and we went on this ride together. I remember that one kid in my school was screaming louder than a little girl when playing dodge ball. Sadly he was in this group. He was screaming before the ride even started. It was bad! All I heard was his annoying scream throughout the ride. What makes this even sadder is that this was in 5th grade when he went.
Le président de star tour
Cool!
ride starts at 4:53
i went to the one at disney land. tons of fun.
I love STAR TOURS IT HAS C3PO AND THE STARSPEEDER 1000
That ride was awesome i wanted to go again
You should of gotten fastpass before you got in line the first time
The large screen you see while coming into the line queue had always had a static image on it. Good to see they finally put some motion to it. It needed it. Galactic Weather Report......
I'm waiting for the PC police to remove the scenes where people / living things are being killed. Just a matter of time. "Help Me Star Tours. You're My Only Hope".
They changed this ride. It was different when I went on it last week. They make it more like The Force Awakens.
Nice lighting for the situation... What HD camera did you use? The HD camera I have doesn't do well in low light. Again, would love to know the model you used. Thanks.
... Do these shuttles happen to have Flux Capacitors?
Why would it matter to you? You're Goku lol
SabreTooth Sasquatch Well I happen to be a huge fan of Star Wars and I'm just wondering how a Starspeeder 1000 is able to jump from the Battle of Hoth to the Battle over Coruscant... that's a 20 year difference. Maybe Trunks would know about these Time Travel shenanigans...
Son Goku I think Bulma would know more since she built Trunks' time machine
SabreTooth Sasquatch Yeah you're right, but I believe only Bulma from Trunks' future would know. But I think Trunks oughta know enough, since he's the one that actually traveled through time.
Son Goku True, very true, but you'd have to ask future Trunks lol your Trunks wouldn't know anything xD
This is one of rare instances where something was upgraded and made worse. BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL!!!
I love the robots. One was checking bags and thought a gun was a hairdrier. The family i front of us had two adults and one kid and robot went human human wookie
I remember riding the original Star Tours
Nice
Dude! I was trying to film it, but saw a sign stating not to film inside the theater. So it's Legal? I mean, I really need it for a film I'm working on. So is it? PLEASE ANSWER!
you got 0 line! LUCKY
Exit through the gift shop!
I like star wars
Me too! Last year in May, I was Rebel Spy even though the 📷 light quality wasn't bright enough that day.
Oh hell yeah the battle of corsusant
when my band went to Disney we had a flash pass for one ride as thanks for playing there, and my friends an I wanted to use it on this ride since they just finished remaking it. But it was the one ride the pass would not work for, and we had to leave without going on it
Thank you for flying Star Tours...Buh-bye!
*plays star tours end theme*
ive been in that ride before i was 6 yrs old i also cryed 😧 😭
We are happy to have the first version, in Paris.. do you regret it ?
I like this ride very much, because Sci-Fi is interesting. It's such a shame that my parents and I didn't go underwater this time in both May and October 2017 which was 7 years ago. The Wookie Planet has been boring us to death, because Wookies aren't our cup of tea which is commonly due to the noises that they make as a form of communication. None of us understand what it's like to understand their body language in regards to the way that they use it to express their feelings or emotions in space operas. It really sucked that the crew eliminated Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers on the ride I really like. In May 2019, which was 5 years ago, I was chosen as Rebel Spy even though the light quality from the camera wasn't good at all. May the force be with you.
its in Fla too. i rode it there
I went in that ride it's super fun
that ride is so fun i have been on it a fish ate the ship once
Just 2 1/2 months until I go again can't wait! lool haha I used to go every other day when I was a kid now I go once a year :(
Lucky :( You should be happy. I go every 5 years.
I got once every month and I thought that was little
My mom is probably the biggest Disneyland fan ever. She's been to Disneyland (in Cali) and California adventures over 45 times each! Also she may go to the Disneyland in Paris!
Pause at 1:11
Is super funny i am go to Disneyland and i go this one Nave for star tours
I think I’m Going to Disneyland with my family over spring break is there a Star Wars restaurant here I thought I saw something about it on TH-cam
I never been on the new version we had fast passes to it we decided to stay in California adventure and wait for California Screamin to get fixed it never did so i got fast passes up to 6 people on any ride so i used it on Tower of Terror We went on it twice fun ride.
Okay, if you're reading this and you want to comment about how there's "no continuity" to the Star Wars time line let me tell you this: this ride is not canon and does not have a set storyline. In all the articles about the ride it is always stated that a computer generates the scenes and therefore timelines will get messed up. The scenes and hologram scene is randomized. A computer for a ride doesn't care about continuity or what happened in this era or that, all it knows is that it was programmed to immerse the riders in 3 separate scenes inspired by the Star Wars universe no matter what era or timeline they happened in. Just enjoy the ride, people!
thank you Mandi I was going to say the same thing
I have never been to courasant in the 8 times I've ridden this
They should make star tours a rollercoaster with vr but just like that seated in a vehicle like that but instead it goes through a rollercoaster
Since when is the line completely empty like that? I have been on the Star Tours ride several times, and the line has NEVER been empty before! did you get special benefits?
They should relocate this attraction to Star Wars Land once it's ready.
+firemonkey47 That makes no sense. Why have two Star Wars attractions an opposite ends of the park? I think they're going to eliminate Star Tours all together. Once Star Wars land opens, I believe Star Tours will be removed from Disneyland all together, it won't make the move to Star Wars land
+Bobby Marshall "Why have two Star Wars attractions an opposite ends of the park?"
Because it would probably cost a few millions to move it, and for what? So that people don't have to walk from one end of the park to the other? They're going to walk the entire park anyway. And spending the amount of money, time and effort it would take to move the attraction just for consistency... now THAT majes no sense
+Rodrigo Ele But it makes absolutely sense to have two attractions based off the same film franchise at two different places withing the same park. It isn't convenient or a good decision. I believe that because of this new land, Star Tours will completely be removed and will no longer exist
It's not inconvenient either, it's all within the same park, people will be able to visit star wars land and star tours anyway.
Honestly don't think they should. One of the new E ticket attractions is most likely a simulation ride just like Star Tours and having two simulator rides side by side doesn't go very well.
I'm happy that they added the clone wars and imperial era to the ride. Idk if this ride is still a thing in galaxy's edge but now I want the resistance era in this too so I can be full circle.
It's not in Galaxy's Edge but it still exists yeah. The added resistance scenes and a scene on Batuu(Galaxy's Edge), Crait might be my favorite. They also locked each scene to its era/trilogy
what grinds me gears is that they combine the clone wars and the empire era, they are 2 different time frames
Im glad im not the only one who noticed that
Oh man did I cringe when I saw that.
It's not meant to be in continuity with the movies. It's a fun ride that takes you to different areas of the Star Wars universe. That's what makes it exciting. You act like this a real movie for god's sake
nerd alert
Oh...ok. It's such a copout to call out 'nerd alert' and be dismissive about this. But there's a legit storytelling issue here and some folks have a point. It would have been really easy to make it consistent - especially if all this effort went into updating this ride. I think they cheesed out and lumped everything together to try to appeal to everyone every second.
But seriously? Just separate the Episode eras into 1-3 and 4-6...where you will be having an adventure in one or the other and you never know what ride you're getting. That could be exciting.
But the way this is structured story-wise? It's like riding the Haunted Mansion (a Victorian era story) and then suddenly you pass through a room with all IKEA furniture and animatronic figures from POLTERGEIST acting out a scene.
there's also one in Hollywood Studios in Florida.
Great footage! Though I probably never will get a chance to see it myself Im wondering:
Is it in a Disney Park in FLA or CA?
If only the glasses would fit for me, but they can't because I already have glasses I need to see. ;-;
Blooky The Meme Ghost they fit around your glasses
nice
they should make it with vr now
