A comment to thank you for how intuitive and well-made your content is. I was stuck with a 3421 formation I couldn't score with. Binge watched all your videos. Turned my AF to F9, put both my offensive midfielders to SS, swapped my Anchor for a CM(D) and my VOL for a DLP to increase the presence in the midfield. With fast Complete Wingers and a Libero(D), the ball circulates so much better than before. Currently in position to steal PSG's first place in Ligue 1.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker My local team Laval (Stade Lavallois Mayenne FC is the long name). It's a Ligue 2 club, one of the smallest budget of the league (well, not anymore).

I like these videos, I used to just download tactics and plug and play, but I find my self more deliberately creating tactics now to suit the players I have at my disposal and signing players who better suit the team. It also brings a new perspective to the game that I didn't think about too much before. I have become a much thoughtful manager and not just racing through a season to get to the next transfer window ❤
man that's the best kind of thing I love to read about the channel. Really means a lot you would try to take these videos and try to implement them into FM into how you play
Speaking of the enganche... but I can appreciate an instructionless role. The possibilities and player archetypes vary so much. Great video as always 🫡
Amazing video as always. I would like to see an example using AC Milan (because they have players with different characteristics. It will be interesting to see how the functions can combine with each other). I think you have the best FM content on YT. Thanks mate!
thank you for the kind words, that means a lot! It's funny, I've used AC Milan with a lot of my tactics and testing and messing around, but it is interesting that I've never used them in a video. Maybe I can get them in an upcoming video
I love this channel and this content. Such a great subject matter rather than showing the latest 4 3 3 variant where someone tweaks the passing directness and call it the latest greatest tactic 😂
6:35 and that's what Indonesian team (that won FM world cup) did they used two DM on support with one playmaking minded player and one more attacking minded
defensive mid on support is, imo, the best all around role in the game. if you can't figure out a specialty role for your dms, just put them DM on support. They defend when you need them to defend, they support when you need them to support, they recycle when it's the best option as well, and they have decent/good positional awareness and responsibility. You just can't go wrong.
I was literally just thinking about trying a role with a bunch of the generic roles. I bet you could get some really fluid movement out of it without much instruction
I think there's 12? Including the Sweeper Keeper. But yea, we're approaching the end of the player roles. It's actually a little bittersweet, if I'm honest!
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker I can understand that feeling. You've put a lot of work into this. I'm sure you'll find more things to cover, though. Especially when FM 25 is out.
hey, nice video! Could you make a video on how to play with 2 strikers? I'm always confused about what the best role combination is, I mean 2 AFs go well together? or maybe is better a "Big strikers" and a "little strikers"? I think that a video about that can be useful for all the community if you decide to do that :)
thank you for the suggestion! That would be a helpful video I think. I hope to get more tactical videos going as I get through the end of the player roles
I use a Libero in a back four with one Full back inverted. Then a SV with a DM, works really well, you get more movement from your players and it seems to create more chances. Also works defensively as they will race back in to their original positions.
I’ve used a DM for ages but after your spacing video I’ve been loving the HB. Dropping back and vacating the middle leaves so much more space for me, in hindsight things felt so claustrophobic with a DM or anchor being in the middle. When might you recommend a dm or anchor over a HB? Maybe the former 2 are better for possession, the HB is better for counter attacking?
I think claustrophobic could be a good way to put that kind of midfielder haha. I will say the benefit of an Anchor and a DM is that they stay out of the way, and they don't need special considerations. So in that 433 formation from the Space video, when using a Half Back, you have to be at least a little cautious about the other midfielders since you now have another center back and have created a gap in your midfield. The benefit of the Anchor/DM is that you don't have to think about the other midfield roles, and in fact you can get really creative with the roles. Mezzalas, Playmakers, Central Midfielders (A) are all on the table since you have the dedicated holding midfielder. They all have their benefits and drawbacks, and I think they can all be used in different styles. In my play styles, I (generally) use a DM in a formation with another defensive midfielder, like a 4231. Gives me some freedom to use a playmaker (like a DLP), or a more aggressive role (like a Segundo Volante). Whereas I'll use an Anchor as the sole defensive midfielder (like in the formation I used in the Anchor video)
Route 1 is a type of play style where you're essentially focused on booting it up the field; the Non nonsense CB is great at booting it up the field, so a good fit for Route 1 tactics
They have less defensive output (tackles, challenges, etc...) but that's mostly because the BWM will see more of those challenges. So a DM will be a little less aggressive but provides better cover. A BWM will make more tackles but be out of position more
DM on support is probably one of the best roles you can use, even without specific instructions. However, for whatever reason, DM on defend is one of the worst roles I' ever encountered in this FM version. Can't say if it was my tactics, but I remember using Ugarte as a DM D and he was always on 6.5 in game. Same thing happened on other saves as well.
I'll echo what everyone else has been saying...great videos for those of us who really want to dive in and not just plug-and-play cheesy tactics with "Tackle Harder" on every single player. A couple of questions - during a save, how do you manage your three tactic slots? How much emphasis do you put on tactical familiarity, particularly with regard to individual position training? Seems like you don't necessarily roll with the same formation game after game - I'm really interested in playing more like that, but the anal retentive side of me wants that familiarity maxed out. Any thoughts?
thank you! That's the goal with these videos, really break down what they do and how they work. Yea I'll say I don't pay a ton of attention to tactical familiarity... I probably should haha, but I love messing around with tactics and trying things so I've learned to ignore it, for better or worse. For my three tactics in my proper saves, the first/primary one is a very generic one with hardly any instructions. The main reason is that the youth team will train with whatever your primary tactic is, so I don't do anything too strenuous or complex since a bunch of youth players are using it. The second tactic would be the one I use on game days; it would be something like in my "possession tactic" video with a handful of instructions. And the third tactic is match specific, so either something super attacking if I'm chasing the match. For individual training, I go back and forth, but I like to do general all around to train them in a variety of attributes. So a creative player would be trained on a roaming playmaker (since that role uses a ton of attributes, good for training), a striker would be a complete forward, etc... Hope that helps!

Hello can you explain what is trap outside/inside? 😅
I hope to make a video on what the trap instruction does! But trap outside makes your team play more compact, and trap inside makes them play wider

Route 1 is a type of play style where you're essentially focused on booting it up the field; the Non nonsense CB is great at booting it up the field, so a good fit for Route 1 tactics

Might be hard to say because its case by case
They have less defensive output (tackles, challenges, etc...) but that's mostly because the BWM will see more of those challenges. So a DM will be a little less aggressive but provides better cover. A BWM will make more tackles but be out of position more
