about the gorillas, I heard a story about a researcher that was trying to observe wild gorillas, but because they were wary of her, she couldn't get close enough to see them very well. So, she tried to climb a tree to get a better vantage point. She failed, but after several minutes of unsuccessful climbing, she suddenly realized that they had gotten closer to watch. After that, the group was much less wary and she was able to do her research, with several big finds about silverback gorilla habits in the wild.

They can be, buuuuuut… like with humans, you need to develop a relationship with them. A dog is just a brain washed wolf, they are breed to worship us but even they will rip you a part if you piss them off, which usually takes a lot, due to aforementioned breeding.

@@edim108 Yeah, human conditioning to see a "doggy" face and go "friend!" kinda screws us over a lot.

@@BenLWolfit’s more that dogs became more cute to humans. They evolved bigger eyes and more developed eyebrow muscles so they could emote towards us. Dogs became cute, so we know associate canines with cute.

@@tardigrade8019 This is true and it works both ways. As we formed our symbiotic bond, we just developed a greater appeal to each other. It's just that we bonded to an apex predator and a lot of murder beasts use that basic body plan.

A small correction, The one who studied gorillas was Dian Fossey, Goodall was the one studying chimps. Fossey would eventually get murdered in Rwanda. Fossey is a controversial figure to be sure, known for having tortured poachers among other things.

If that horse wanted to do true harm, I would be down several fingers.

Yeah, humans without tools either die or survive BY making tools. The panther one I knew right away was ok just from the look on the cat's face, but actually when you think about it their senses are so sharp that the only way that woman could get close enough to do that in the first place and not become lunch is by being deeply loved and trusted. A feline of that size, you can't surprise if they don't trust you already, they will remove your limbs way before the slap reach their butts.

Situations like the one with Harambe is why I firmly believe all zoos should be like that one "reverse zoo" in China, where the visitors are kept in a cage and drive around on the back of the truck and the animals can roam around on a much larger area made available to them.

Hell, I had a regular housecat who was just a sweet cuddly baby with me but, well, my friends called him an albino panther. I mean, he was pretty big for a housecat (think that meme picture of the jacked sphinx cat but covered in enough white fur to hide the muscle definition) but he wasn't THAT big (or actually albino).
