Here I am, working on a Sunday to get caught up on a deadline, so I crank up my TH-cam account to entertain me. And what am I treated to? An incredibly rare and insightful interview of my favorite band! And it was a really creative production. THANK YOU for sharing!
A shame that Styx management did not allow a bit more access to media. More live footage and live radio concerts would have been a thrill the fans could still enjoy to this day! Each tour should have had a professionally audio visual document of a concert. This interview and music are fantastic. Jim Ladd worked locally in my area, I heard these radio specials. As a kid, you could never tape to cassette everything you wanted.
@@romelovesdan ~ Their management in the 1970s and 80s ended up screwing ALL of us Styx fans. Such little access to the band and no TV appearances!! No Midnight Special appearances, no SNL appearances, etc. We SHOULD be able to see our heroes in their prime and there’s SO little available. It’s a damn shame and we’re the ones who pay the price of this shortsightedness. What a bunch of Jackanapes from Jackaloop Junction! ( The management, not the band. ) Although the fact that there’s “the great schism” in the band doesn’t bode well for the release of any official archival CD 💿 or DVD 📀 releases. Almost every other band releases great, classic shows, demos, etc… but NOT Styx. It’s quite frustrating and ridiculous. “Bones, thoughts? Opinions?”
@ You hit the nail on the head. 100% correct in your assessment of the affairs pertaining to the Styx legacy. Like “ a ship of fools adrift on le mal de mare…”. A Crystal Ball era performance on one of those late night shows would have propelled them into the National scene sooner A Grand Illusion box set with outtakes, and a live concert audio recording would sell well. It may never happen, but let’s hope a cordial, and thoughtful business meeting can take place on day. It will take the record companies, rights holders, and the surviving band members to come to an agreement. Will they “….fail to listen and learn.” ?
@@isaacg2008 So this actually turned out to be something other than what I thought it was. I have something labeled "Innerview" that is actually a totally separate special with interviews from various members of the band including John who doesn't seem to be in this one. I'll throw that your way if you like. As far as others tapes I have, there's nothing I have that isn't already out there for all to see, except for a bunch of more recent shows by Dennis DeYoung and the band with Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips. 2000s and 2010s era stuff. Not highly sought after but if you're interested in those too I'd be happy to share when I get the chance
@@JimmyH91do you have the festhalle show from 81? I had saw you said you had that one a little while ago just recently read the comment. I’m also looking for a show from Washington DC at the Warner theater, 11-3-78. In the interview show that you have do they perform any songs? I’ll take whatever Styx you have I only focus on uploading the older concerts (75-01) and also whatever footage there is of them from those time periods.
If only they could still make albums as good as The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight. Paradise Theater was quite good, but they haven't released a studio album in the same league as those from the late seventies.
Jim Ladd, proving once again, how useless he truly was. No insights, no interviews, nothing. As a huge Styx AND Yes fan, I’ll never forget how Ladd kept referring to Bill Bruford as “Bill Buford” during the ABHW ( Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe ) tour in 1989. Good riddance. STILL looking for ANY pre-Tommy Shaw sound or footage from the John Curulewski era. It’s definitely out there and SOMEONE is sitting on a treasure trove! A veritable goldmine!

I have this whole show on vinyl.

@@romelovesdan most likely wasn’t Styx themselves not allowing but their managers
@ Yes, the management.
