The Paper Moon digipak is a takeoff of old cigar boxes. They were works of art in and of themselves. Cigar boxes were the perfect storage box for a multitude of items back in the day. Collectibles, keepsakes, pictures, and money come to mind.
Cool to see yall down here, first time into that B&N opening day, I was scared they wouldn't carry much criterion, but they do try and put as much as they can with the limited space they got. 😅
Glad you go the Shape Of Water. I literally just read on reddit that DelToro is working on an extended version of his Nightmare Alley for theater release (and hopefully physical media release)
Glad you were able to pick them up while in Florida visiting family. We picked up the exact same ones. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on “Paper Moon”😊
Paper Moon is the third Bogdanovich on Criterion so I hope they will next release Whats up Doc,one of his best films, with Ryan 'O Neal again and Barbra Streisand who proves she is as good in comedies as in musicals, and it's a great modern take on the classic screwball comedies of the 30s and 40s.
just picked up Shape of Water (4K) myself at home after bringing back a couple of titles from the B&N in Hilton Head... road trip for Criterion, why not?
I definitely picked up more last month than I thought I would. I didn't double my collection, but only because I picked up the Bergman set in July which has 40(or almost 40 I think) films. Let's just say one trip was a shopping therapy session after the election, that was after I picked up a fair amount in one trip earlier in late October when the sale first started. In total, I think I did 4 trips, but one was for a friend and getting them some of my favorites with: Last Temptation of Christ, New World, and Devil in a Blue Dress. But I'll just give you my top 5 highlights of the pickup from the store(which I'm lucky to have such a well stocked Barnes and Noble close to home) 1. Dekalog 2. Tales of the Four Seasons 3. Girlfight 4. About the Dry Grasses 5. Mississippi Masala Glad you got a lot you were looking for this year. Appreciate all the content.
@FilmsByColor although the "Paper Moon" release is absolutely mind-blowing. And truth be told I prefer Bogdanovich as a director, I think, especially with his use of (time-period accurate) popular music in a film like "Paper Moon".
I'm interested to see what these new Barnes and Noble locations look like. There is a new location opening about a 10-minute drive from my house and it's a smaller, 15,000 SQ FT location.
Ryan O’Neal is very good in Barry Lyndon.

Just like how they used it in the film (obviously)
I started collecting all the Criterion releases since Jan 2020 lovely to see all those consecutive spine numbers I have now upwards of 900.
Paper Moon is cute. It's not a strong masterpiece as "The last picture show", but quite fun!
You'll figure out the meaning of the cigar box when you watch Paper Moon. It's a cool design once you see it.

I can’t wait to watch it! I might have to take a break from Christmas movies and squeeze it in this month!
@@gracemartinez18 Yes! Do it😊
Fantastic pickups in all the haul videos, its been a joy to see them pop up in my feed. Look forward to your thoughts on paper moon.
Enjoy Paper Moon! It's incredible
I already got Funny Girl (loved it!) but I need to pick up Paper Moon and The Shape of Water soon! Lovely video as always!

Grabbed "Funny Girl" and "Paper Moon" as part of my November Criterion haul. Decided to wait for the next sale for "Shape of Water."
Love criterion videos

Awesome video
You should check out Dogfight (if you haven’t already)
I'm glad you both were able to find a copy of "Funny Girl" on 4k.
@@JefferyEPetrone That was definitely a pleasant surprise!

Streisand gives one of the great performances (musically, dramatically and comically) in "Funny Girl"- you're in for a treat.
l hope you feel better soon
