Didn't you know Steve, the work on the Metropol, is 5* upgrades for our unwanted guests. Got to keep them happy whilst our own have to find shelter in doorways now. Great video as always Ste, very informative buddy, great for your younger audience, whom actually might learn something ❤
Stephen I'm an old sandgrown'un. Remember that the very high tides always used to put through the windows of a shop on the other side of the prom. It was a posh dress shop called Diana Warren.
Elliptical orbits explain the movements. A diagram is worth a lot of words but you are all spot on. A time table is essential for sailors as is the rule of twelfths. I recall that from my sailing exams. I suppose it is all online now. Never sailed round Blackpool though, looks a bit rough. Thanks all good.
Hello Stephen No apologies were needed, I thought your explanation was clear and understandable enough for the average layman to understand. Look forward to your videos take care Mike
Well explained in as simple way as possible to people like me ! When I went to Southport the tide went out miles. You could hardly see the sea, Excellent vid. as always. Thanks.
Thanks for a great vlog, walk on the Wild side meets Starman 😊,great to see the high tide, those waves were a sight to see, your knowledge is amazing Stephen, keep up the good work, you take care. Bye for now 😊
One time my son & me came Blackpool, the tide was out quite far, we stopped on the North Pier & watched it come in so fast my son was surprised cos he wanted to go on beach while it was out.
I was watching a video of the Pleasure Beach 1989 when the tide was so high it literally flooded half the Pleasure Beach and the full length of the prom who remembers that those lives in Blackpool
Hi Stephen, I remember before they did the new seawall & headlands, the beach was much bigger then & the sea didn't come all the way in to the basalt wall at low tide. The ice cream men must have studied the tides each day, so they knew whether to park their vans on the beach or not. A simple mistake with the tides information could have left their vans submerged.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool If you ever venture into Europe for a video, consider St Malo in France. Great ferry from Portsmouth and also a short ferry from Jersey (you could even go to Mt St Michel which is not far). But the most epic tides and I mean epic!!! Hotels right on the edge. A spring tide there would be amazing
Very interesting video Steve, thank you. I am very disappointed with myself for not getting down to see the high tide on Monday, the tide chart I use said it was going to be 10m, but I am very much a novice when it comes to tides. On Tuesday the chart said the tied was going to be 9.9m so I went down. The tide was very high and the sea wall was well covered with water, but because there was no wind, there was no waves except the ones at the Spanish Steps. A great big tree almost made it onto the sea wall at St Chad's but didn't quite make it, It drifted back out to sea. I didn't see any over topping like I have done on other occasions.
There are so many tide charts I don't know which is the best one but I picked one aimed at fishing hoping it's a good one to go by. They get flood alerts at Cleveleys when the tide is very high. Cleveleys and St Anne's are two places I must go at high tide, and Gynn Square for a good bit of wave watching :)
I always knew the moon controlled the tide although the documentary that was shown on Tv years ago did state the various brands of cheese the moon was made from when a old guy built a rocket and took his dog it was really good
Was in Blackpool recently they made a half way house shelter right near the sea and everything around it looked like it was suffering there was a lass just casually smoking a crack pipe. Yep I was gobsmacked welcome to Blackpool 😂
What goes on around us is amazing! From right next to us to far away. Even our world goes through cycles. Civilizations rise and fall. I think ours at present is in for a change!
Steve you need to up the contrast on your settings the picture colour on your new camera seems all washed out and its making your skin tone look very grey !
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool hope you can sort things out for the next video mate and you get that Rosey Glow we all like to see on you from all that sea air again.

Just off subject Stephen. Noticed scaffolding up at the rear of metropole hotel. Is it being refurbished or is it still full of migrants. Cheers Stephen 👍

I was always taught that if the suns on one side of the world, the moon is on the other, so I'm boogled when l always see them together. Something not quite right.
When the moon is opposite the sun from our perspective, it'll be full or thereabouts. When the moon is on the same side as the sun, it'll be like a waxing/waning crescent, or not visible at all.
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Not trying to prove you wrong, but today, wensday it will be 9.61 at 2.35 in the afternoon and on Monday I am from cleveleys just up the road and as a Fisher man I was out on the prom with what was the biggest tied we have ever seen on this coast line 10.18.
The only reason I know about the link with the moon and the tide is because of my star sign apparently, something I read years ago, I’m ruled by the moon and that somewhat controls the tides and a bit like the tides changing and going in and out each day is the same as how my moods can change from one hour to the next 😂 so that’s how I knew about the link with tides and moon haha but I do find it all very interesting 👍

Many people have been caught out by that - and there are quicksand patches, too!

The Pleasure Beach used to be on the beach!!!
I must admit coastal storm chasing is some of my favourite things to watch. Great footage Stephen, thankyouuuu for the video 😊

I was in Scarborough last month and it had similar, waves were coming across the road, dumping twigs and moss right outside the amusement arcades.
I was surprised at how high the tide came up at Scarborough.
Went to Southport on Monday never seen the tide so high going over the pier people just stood looking mesmerised
Good watch Stephen Interesting about the tides

I think it was a bit higher up at Cleveleys. Not sure how they measure tides, but I guess they take averages from different point.

Basically the Moon is kicking off in Blackpool!
It looks like the north sea is kicking off,l bet the north pier got battered, educational vlog well explained 👍
Interesting video never seen the tide that high. I didn't realise it was to do with the Sun as well as the moon.
Thanks again, really interesting
Hi Stephen, a great video. Thank you for explaining the super high tide so well! Keep it up with your great videos.xxxx
Glad you enjoyed it Jean.
Hello Stephen. I think i saw a timetable for the tide in the near of comedy carpet. But I'm not sure.
There is one there. Only found it after I’d finished filming lol
Hi good video very enjoyable ❤
WOWZAS The tide is high but is we're holding on
It's the same when I have a drink at Yates Ambulance always go pass😊❤
Stay safe the tied is high and am rolling on 😅 thanks for the info too
That’s what Debbie Harry said.
The crazy low tides might also reveal the Fylde Atlantis. Enter the Dragon super moon 🐲🌜🌊
I've always been fascinated by the gravitational force of the earth 🌎 vs the sun 🌞 & moon 🌙 🌚 on the sea & how it reacts 😊
RE : Gravitational Pull. So am I better to weigh myself at High or Low Tide ?
Weigh yourself at first or last quarter moon.
Spring tides are biggest range. Neeps lowest. Moon is the influence
We were on the east coast at the weekend and the sea was so rough . Maybe we should have gone to the west coast with that high tide ..
What goes on around us is amazing! From right next to us to far away. Even our world goes through cycles. Civilizations rise and fall. I think ours at present is in for a change!

Had a hightide here on the Bristol estuary.
The Severn has the 2nd highest tidal range in the world. I'd like to experience the Severn Bore sometime.
Just off subject Stephen. Noticed scaffolding up at the rear of metropole hotel. Is it being refurbished or is it still full of migrants. Cheers Stephen 👍
Still full of migrants.
So why does the gravitational pull of the moon not cause tides in the sand?
It does affect land mass, but water is much more pliable.
Great video Stephen, you look like a beer monster lol.
Proud to look like a beer monster.
Cracking vlog..Mr x
G`day mate, well done Stephen , put another shrimp on the barbie, lol!!
New moon 🌜was on Sunday

Don’t challenge the Blackpool see by it’s power because the sea will always win.

Hello
Tides flow up and down. Not in and out.
One way of looking at it.
Just to let you know, it wasn't a 9.5 tied on Monday it was a 10.18 tied. It was the biggest tied we have had for a lot of years.👍👍
Not in Blackpool it wasn't. You must be somewhere else.
