I think auto racing with fossil fuel engines needs to come to an end for a couple of reasons. First, given what we know about what the burning of fossil fuels is doing to our planet makes the superfluous burning for racing disgusting. It’s one thing to do it so that people can get to work and conduct their lives but to do it for the non-essential of just racing is, at this point, stupid. And secondly, if racing helps bring new technology into the private sector where are the hydrogen, battery powered, and other alternative racing machines that will allow us to move away from fossil fuels on a global scale. Or do the oil company’s reach and stifling of auto racing innovation mean that their overlord role is in further evidence?
