No it's not a post-apocalypse story set in a desert, it's a bunch of different worlds combined into one by Kei's misuse of the space-time bomb (Orguss plot, the reason it's the central story of the game.) Some of the worlds were post-apocalyptic, some weren't.

Jam Project makes all music they touch more epic. Super Robot Wars is an unbridled celebration of the Super Robot genre, that makes all series they touch more awesome. It's like the perfect trifecta of awesomeness multipliers, and it's music to my ears. ;D
@KingLazerman Well unless a SRW has a direct sequel original characters like the SRX won't ever appear in another SRW. SRX was in alpha only, so they probably won't show up in any more SRWs that aren't OGs. With EVA they are most likely going to put it back in when the Rebuild movies are finished. That's what they did with Zeta Gundam for this game.
a black hoele that would end teh universe, pretty much teh same thing anyway, and while I have only watched Getter Robo Go I did get that everything goes back into getter whne it dies as it being THE God, I dunno exactly how it evolves since the normal Getter was a different thing to Shin getter and I havent actually seen Emperor and I didnt even know it could evlve but seeing as both can increase their powers in direct response to the pilot's will...I say it would be neat to see them both fight
i want to see Code Geass, Mospeada, Gurren Lagan , Acrobunch, Tetsujin 28 (1980's one) and Dairugger XV (Voltron, not Lion Force Voltron) .... until see all of them i will not die!

Actually, its 3 years after the series' end. So expect it to appear in 2009 (for R2 2011).
Too early for both MF, and G00. It would kickass though! I hope you are right, and new series are starting to get involved in the SRW universe.
