Theres always someone who just cant accept a brilliant idea..ignore them ..follow your own brilliance….your roses will flourish..this vid is brilliant..🇨🇦
It's poor idea. If you put the stem into the ground with proper fertilizers then it won't take even a week to get rooted. And moreover egg shell is the best fertilizer for rose
Thank you so much for this video. I lost my Mama a year ago and she has a beautiful rose bush that I would love for my sister and I each to have a piece of. Definitely going to try this
Simplest way is to prune in winter and stick the prunings in "cutting mix" in pots. This method shown here is not necessary for roses. And overkill for anything else. Wet tissue and any sift plastic wrapped around the wet tissue or tape of any type. No need to take the bark off either. Scratch deeply through the bark 1cm long with knife tip will do. Cutting mix is slightly sandy to promote root growth.
Who Would Have Thought Just Using One Simple Potato, Can Produce a Blooming Beautiful Rose' Garden. Love 💓 Watching These Easy Intructions👍 "Thank -You"
I’ve never seen it done this way, it seems so much easier than other ways I’ve been shown. I’m going to try this way and how it comes out. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you.
Beautifully filmed. Wet tissue and cling wrap, or grafting tape, or any sticky tape will give exactly the same results. The potato and all the messing around is superfluous.
@@savagebushranger7953 beautifully filmed but way too much faffing about. Even taking the cambium off like that is unnecessary. Just score an area with a knife 1cm long, no need to take the bark off. Cover it in anything that will keep it moist and cover in plastic bag or any soft plastic. Realistically the simplest way is to prune in winter and stick the prunings in "cutting mix" in pots. This method shown here is not necessary for roses. And overkill for anything else. Cutting mix is slightly sandy to promote root growth.

Thank you for the information I live in a senior building and I have a patio I love roses my grandfather had a whole yard full of roses for 60 years thank you for the information😁🥀
there is an easier way to do this with out risking disease to your mother rose bush. actually 2 ways 1: is make the cutting, make a hole in the potato, put the cutting into the potato, put some soil into a pot, put potato with cutting into the pot, put more soil over to completely cover the potato and about 1 inch of the cutting. cut a drinks bottle's bottom off, put over the cutting, take top of bottle off, water the soil, and then just keep an eye on it watering as required. 2: put hormone rooting powder on the point you want the cutting to grow from. and pin that point into a pot with soil so it's still attached to the "mother plant" while it grows roots.
The branch was rotten where the potato was placed and the roots had grown where there was no potato. Only potting soil is sufficient to grow a new plant. I do it with potting soil only .
My father used to do something similar to that crafting a yellow and red rose together. Absolutely beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. Hugs from the San Francisco Bay Area

I'm not a horticulturalist, I study botany and I generally try to avoid cultivars in my landscaping business. But I do know a little bit about horticultural rose varieties because my mom had them for a long time. You usually don't grow roses from their own roots, this is because through selective breeding you actually tend to lower the hardiness of the genetic individual. The characteristics you are selecting for are not disease resistance or growth rate, for example- they are flower size and color, etc. So you usually graft onto a more vigorous and hardy rootstock to make up for the relatively weak root system of your cultivar. But taking cutting of a rootstock and grafting back onto it doesn't make for as exciting of a video... because that would actually be somewhat informative 🧐🙂
Its a modified technique of air layering used in plant horticulture, technique is same but instead of potato, the ring like peeled plant part is covered with moist coconut fibre or coir ptth or dried and moisted spagnum moss and it is covered with polythene paper and the noth ends are tied with twine, its look like a bigger chocklate, after the root formed indide the coir pith is easily visible throw transparent polythene, then the rooted topp portion is cut and plant in pots, this technique is msinly used in fruit trees have branches, in very higj, not easily bend down to ground and its not suitable gor layering in soil, thank you for your novel idea!

Yes potato thing is nothing but a stupid myth...it can be done airlayering by only soil even with water
