  • This is Part 2 of an audio story with still images on the life of Miss Amy June Furlong. A story of a fiercely independent woman and her experiences during Covid-19 in Liverpool. Part 2 includes June helping John Lennon the day he went into the Art School after his mother Julia had died. June believed she saved his life.
June was a remarkable character and would reminisce daily about her London days at the Slade and the Royal College of Art and life at Liverpool Art School.
Moira Kenny recorded June over a period of 20 years and for the last two years visited June daily during her illness after a diagnosis of cancer and recorded her for The Art of Living oral history project. June wanted to share her experience of losing her independence, challenges that came through needing professional care and leaving the house that she was born in and lived for 90 years; 58 Falkner Street, L8.
June had a team of friends who cared and looked after her until she eventually moved to Marmaduke Care Home where she died peacefully.
The famous Miss Amy June Furlong is sadly missed, she was larger than life and sometimes a little bit mischievous.
