On my 2nd cancellation. Mercury now 10 months later I get one from Kemper. High fire severity zone is a scam claim in my opinion. It’s really the age of the home they want every component upgrades like $65,000 cost to me.
My property "fire score" is a 2 on a scale of 1-30. My current insurance company's requirements for defensible space or they will cancel my policy: nothing growing w/in 5 feet of the home, all shrubs spaced 3' apart, the canopy of any tree growing within 30' feet of the home must be no less than 18' from the next nearest tree canopy. I do not own a deed restricted property, and yet the state is effectively giving control over homeowner's properties to insurance companies. Complying with these requirements will cost tens of thousands of dollars. And even then, due to the age of my home, I'm not given any premium discount. This is egregious, capricious and far exceeds the defensible space recommendations made by state fire Marshall in cooperation with local fire governing bodies, who are NOT elected officials.
Insurance companies are not here to help people! It’s not profitable for them, Greed! Give us names of Companies that cover California, can’t find any.
All state canceled me after 24 years,no claims, said I was in fire zone.I own outright so I'm doing without
You must live in Comiefornia sorry things are going to get worst out there!
You have LOTS of company! 👋🏻
We should all get together and file a massive class action lawsuit against the state!
Class Action lawsuit where do we start? Any suggestions anyone?
@@redlegwife2506 I honestly wouldn’t know how to begin. But I would definitely sign up!

Everyone should just put the premiums into a piggy bank or a CD and give the middle finger the insurance companies.
If this is still not the time to leave California. When is it?
That is freaking ridiculous. All this shit is a scam anyway. You try and make a claim and they do whatever it takes to not have to payout.
And when you do make a claim they jack up your premium for your next renewal. Ridiculous.
Im thinking fire zone properties will be much harder to sell as this problem progresses. Its kept me from buying rural real estate this year.

"LAST RESORT" ?? HA!
This is one big reason why I decided not to buy a home, but to continue renting instead.
But you will still be paying for it. The cost will go up for the landlord and they will pass it on to the renters
