This is such a good video idea! I think its interesting to see how different the brush pen colours show up on different types of paper and how different they are from each other🤔 I often have those moments when I'm using a certain brush pen or highlighter on certain paper all the time and then it appears not the way I thought it would on other papers😅 This will be very good for reference!
Great idea to swatch on different papers - I've done mine in a Hobonichi Weeks-sized notebook, but not on regular paper. Yet 😀 ETA: Tombow have changed some of the colour names since I bought my first ones. 942 used to be called Tan, and 850 was Flesh - I guess they wanted to get away from the caucasian skin tone names. Also, "process" means it's one of the exact colours used in 4-colour printing, i.e. yellow, cyan/blue and magenta (and black of course, but that's just black!). Hence it has to be bright when at full saturation, in order to replicate intense colours in photos.
Chartreuse the color gets its name from the French liqueur made by an order of monks whose monastery was located in the Chartreuse Mountains. Much like Angostura bitters, the complex recipe is only known by a limited number of people and continues to be a closely guarded secret. The color is a result of the chlorophyll that comes from the plant material that is used in its production. It has an unusual and complex flavor that is described by some as licorice with spices. We have a local restaurant that has a chartreuse prawn recipe as an appetizer currently.
I like this swatching idea very much. I started out like you, thinking I wasn't going to get that many of the Dual brush pens, but I've amassed nearly the whole set. This Christmas I was gifted the tombow marker storage organizer and I love it yeah, because I can see all the colors I have right in front of me
I love seeing the two papers comparison. I think the bright ones that you dislike are very appealing. What about a fruits series> That dark blue looks like blueberries, the yellow a lemon, the bright yellow green, a lime, etc. You have such cute doodle!
What a relaxing way to spend some time watching you colour swatch. My selection of Tombow markers is really small still but, like my fountain pen collection, I have a feeling it will grow. 😆 Also good to hear your opinion on each and to see them swatched on both types of papers. Def saving this video. Thanks Helen! 🙌🏽
I honestly don’t know, but would the multiple swipes/colouring the dots in the bullet journal make it darker as well (vs. The single swipe on the Tomoe paper)?
Great Video! I will use this color chart to select Tombow at the store. Yes I like to buy the color which I want to work with, save money. 1/2 of sets are waste color for me.
5:26 From Color Psychology: “Chartreuse Color Chartreuse is a shade between the colors green and yellow, but it is typically considered a sub-category of the color green. The color was named after a French liqueur called “chartreuse” which has a greenish-yellow hue. The liqueur was first produced in 1605 by the Carthusian monks of France, but likely not marketed to the public until the 1730s. The name of this drink was first used as a color name in the year 1884 when it was mentioned in a British fashion newspaper.” I was interested in the name and found this. from Ohio 🇺🇸
I love doing a swatch page in my planner. This was very relaxing. I personally go with crayola supertips and mildliners. I think we need to setup a group to swap stationary we end up not liking because I feel like there would be people out there.
Ahhh in the smiley face swatch, you forgot to put 933 under the orange color. It was driving me crazy the rest of the video LOL. Hopefully you caught it! Thanks for sharing the swatching it was a fun and neat way to show the colors. I am working on my own method of swatching, instead of the same old boring way!
I love this, but your methodology isn’t consistent for comparison purpose: you do one line without overlap in your Cousin, but you have colour overlap in your Leuch. My tombows look different when I go over them, which you do in your bullet journal. Not the end of the world, but just something to keep in mind for future comparison!
I think she did that with the ones she uses the most because they weren't as juicy and headed to the may need replacing. Additionally she uses them a lot so it's also her perception of how she sees the colors.
Thank you for doing this video. I would have NEVER thought of doing cute faces & it makes the page look so much cuter 😍 I don't have much but I'm definitely doing this instead of always having a scratch paper. It's neat seeing how the colors look different on different paper.
I don’t have nearly as large of a collection as you have, but 856 is a really beautiful red that I enjoy using. It might be a bit bright for your tastes, but I thought of it when you mentioned holly berries. 😊
The faces are super funny hahaha I especially like 177😆 The colours do show quite different depending on the paper, so thank you for doing both. It helps a lot😊
So fun to watch and makes me want to do a swatch page. I think this makes so much sense since some colors don’t match exactly the cap they come in and I forget all the time 😅
Glad to have this video!! I’ve been eagerly waiting something like it from you!! ❤ Any idea as to when your shop will reopen? I’m starting to run out of my last orders!! 😢
Such a useful video! I love seeing swatches, it really helps me see what colours to actually get. I also love how you swatched them in the leuchtturm, so fun! Also - don't know if you noticed, but I think you missed writing that orange's number on the leuchtturm's swatches!
Question, please, lovely people: does the Hobonichi Cousin grid paper have the same sized grid as the Hobonichi Weeks paper? I’m really keen on getting a Hobonichi Cousin for next year but MUCH prefer the grid size of Leuchtturm and Midori. (I also prefer my paper to be a little more substantial than the Tomoe River paper, so we’ll see how my saga plays out 😂.). Love the creativity as usual, Helen!!!! Happy Sunday and Happy Year of the Rabbit!
JetPens says the Weeks is 3.6mm and the Cousin (and the Original) is 3.7mm. It's a tiny difference but I do actually notice it between books. Looks like Midori is a 5mm grid though, so you might want to stick with that if you don't want to go smaller.
Thank you so much, Sara! Of course - JetPens specifications lists the information!! I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction and taking the time to reply!!!!! 😊. Have a great day!
Thx Helen, it is really useful so i wont purchase the similar colours. I think in the end I only like a few of those colours. Happy Chinese New Year !!!
This is kind of random but how many refills of the clena or black pens do you go through in a year Helen?? Also I swear your black pens 0.4 21:02 look darker than mine do 😂
TBF you’re doing two different types of swatching. A single line on the Tomoe River and a circle where you’re doubling the intensity of the color on the other…🤔😒
This is such a good video idea! Thank you for watching Charnay! Yess it's crazy how much paper affects how the colours turn out!!!!

You should go glow sticks with the highlighters. Little emotis in party mode lol. Like glow stick necklaces and glasses 😊

Right??????? They are so easy to pick up here and there and suddenly you have a billion bahaha
So helpful Helen, thanks for sharing. I didn’t realise they can be so different on different papers ! Great help 😊

yay thank you for posting helen - your videos bring me so much serotonin haha! hope your sunday is going well :)
Aww thank you so much!!! Hope you have a great Sunday!
Every time you said "cool gray" I pictured the marker saying, in "mean girls" fashion, "I'm not a normal gray, I'm a cool gray" lol
What a relaxing way to spend some time watching you colour swatch. I need these faces as a transparent sticker sheet
Chartreuse is a French liqueur made of 130 unique herbs and botanicals. It is naturally green (from chlorophyll) or naturally yellow (from saffron).
Thanks for this fun and very helpful video! And for thinking to swatch on two different papers!👏👏👏
What a great vid. 10 out of 10 for your dedication and mindful relaxed way of doing the swatches. 💫
Hehe thanks for watching!!
Great Video! I will use this color chart to select Tombow at the store. Yes I like to buy the color which I want to work with, save money. 1/2 of sets are waste color for me.
I loved this video. As I watched this, I was completing a list in my bujo of series to watch this year. Thanks for the relaxing video!

Hi Helen. Love the video!! love all your videos! Just one tiny thing, you wrote 755 in you HOBO and 757 in your LT. Love from Sweden
I love doing a swatch page in my planner. This was very relaxing. I personally go with crayola supertips and mildliners. I think we need to setup a group to swap stationary we end up not liking because I feel like there would be people out there.
I love seeing how colors show up on different papers! This was so incredibly helpful- thanks so much, Helen!
You didn’t put the number on the orange on your bullet journal, 933 i think ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I really appreciate you giving thoughts and comparing papers. I also love the faces!!!
Great video! I don’t have a lot of Tombows but your recommendations are great.
Thank you Ann! Glad it was helpful!
so pretty 🥰 happy lunar new year 🧧!
So many colours! Omg! My one and only is crying right now 🤣🤣🤣
Such a helpful video! Thank you! Love the cute swatches and the “functional” ones!
We appreciate your hard work and effort. God bless you.
Okay. I wrote down each color number and now I will see which ones I have or don't. Thanks for showing them to us. I love the emoti head swatches. 👍
This was so relaxing and satisfying to watch.... thank you!
It’s so satisfying to see all the swatches in the end!! Loved this video! I’ve been convinced to purchase my first few tombow brush pens 😌❤️
Ahhh in the smiley face swatch, you forgot to put 933 under the orange color. It was driving me crazy the rest of the video LOL. Hopefully you caught it! The little orange in the leuchturrm didn't get his number 😥😂 love this, thanks Helen!
I love this video and found it very helpful. I'm new to hobonichi and this was everything! Happy Thanksgiving

This is exactly what I was thinking and I couldn’t understand why no-one else had commented on it. I enjoyed the recommendation aspect though.
I think she did that with the ones she uses the most because they weren't as juicy and headed to the may need replacing. Additionally she uses them a lot so it's also her perception of how she sees the colors.
Hi Helen! When will your shop open up? Looking to buy more stickers!!!!
Love this! Thanks Helen! 🙏🏼💕
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh no! Now I want to buy all the Tombows you recommended!
Great video, it's great to get the perspective of someone who thinks a lot about colours.
As soon as you swatched 665, I said magenta in my head and you said purple. I’m a nail tech and companies do that all the time. Drives me crazy
Thank you for doing this video. I would have NEVER thought of doing cute faces & it makes the page look so much cuter 😍 I don't have much but I'm definitely doing this instead of always having a scratch paper. It's neat seeing how the colors look different on different paper.

I have just bought my first set of Tomboy!! And THIS IS THE VIDEO THAT I NEED RIGH NOW🤍🤍🤍
The faces are super funny hahaha I especially like 177😆 The colours do show quite different depending on the paper, so thank you for doing both. It helps a lot😊
So fun to watch and makes me want to do a swatch page. I think this makes so much sense since some colors don’t match exactly the cap they come in and I forget all the time 😅
Happy Sunday Helen❤
Have you done swatches with other pens, colored pencils, paint pens, etc.?
So good! Thanks Helen 🤗

I would love to see you use brighter colors in your designs. Even if it’s a discreet pop of color ❤
Welches Papier?? ❤ Mega ♡ ist es besser in dem komplett seg zu kaufen wo alle farben dabei sind oder lieber einzelne sets was kommt günstiger? ❤
so amazing to use the dual brush pens!
It is so satisfying to look at. I tried to do the same but its not that easy lol
I bought the whole set then found out they are NOT lightfast!! 😫
Still love them for messing around in a sketchbook though.
This is so helpful! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
I think you’ve told us before but your pen Sarasa dry do you have a different refill in it?
Yes!! Energel clena 0.4!

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Blessings.
I think you would love 228 green :)
Thank you - you a life saver
Thx Helen, it is really useful so i wont purchase the similar colours. I think in the end I only like a few of those colours. Happy Chinese New Year !!!
You: as you can see Lamp Black is very blue-toned
Me: are you kidding, it’s practically a brow- oh. Siri, turn off Night Shift. 😂😅
603 has no right to be that nice ( 12:36 I think loll).
Ooh this is giving me unintentional asmr ❤
as I watched u were jinxing with my mind hahah. I waz like: ew I dont like neons I like mutes hahah.
This is kind of random but how many refills of the clena or black pens do you go through in a year Helen?? Also I swear your black pens 0.4 21:02 look darker than mine do 😂
Gazes longingly while planning with my crayolas.
Crayola are just as good and much cheaper, both are not lightfast so save your money.
🍃🌷🍃Hi Helen☺️I just want to say, I hope you have a good day. Stay safe🙏🏻🍃🌷🍃
Thank you Mina! Hope you have a great day as well!
I was internally screaming bec the little orange didn’t get his number and my brain feels itchy bec of it 😂😂 otherwise a really helpful vid!! ❤️

ааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааа
