Make a paper flower with all the ridges you want already folded into it, and cut out (trust me, you want to get the frustration of how wide everything actually has to be in paper, mistakes in metal tend to mean bleeding for nothing). Then, flatten out the paper onto the metal, and trace with a sharpie. Wearing leather gloves, cut out the pattern, then debur using sandpaper (or an actual deburring tool if you have one). Still wearing leather gloves (sharp edges can still be a thing) fold and form the aluminum in almost the same way you did for the paper. Punch a hole in the middle to have a bit of twine to run through it to tie it down to the rest of the crown. Repeat until you have all the flowers you want. This is less sturdy than sheet metal, since the sheet aluminum used for cans is about as thin as you can get without it being considered foil, but it is also cheap, and a fairly easy DIY. Pluses are that it looks really cool if you can get the metal completely clean. If you need any clarifications, just ask and I will comment with a clarification.
I want to work there!! Making armor has been my dream. These guys are so cool!! I took precision machinery and leather working my freshman year in high school and I loved it!! Wish I could do that again
For a sponsored vid this was nice. I'd have liked to seen more stuff about the actual making of the armor and the costume in general but this was pretty cool nonetheless. It was a little smirk inducing the way you have to keep putting the bag of candy into the video frame but that a sponsorship for you. We all have bellies to fill and lights to keep on so I can't and won't at all blame you for it. Heck I'd do the same if I was being paid to make a video. ^,^ Plus you got a really cute costume out of it and got to watch the armor making process done by professionals. And if you ever do get that video of just the leather sound be a dear and post it. I'm not an amrs person but that noise is satisfying.
