Tarik is one of better hosts on Munchies and everyone in these comment sections love but you gotta give mad props to the guy who chooses the people he visits. The Squid fishing dude, the duck hunting islander from the last episode, and this Skokomish dude are all laid back, humble, no nonsense, non pretentious people who represent the area they are from really well and make for good blue collar viewing. I mean you got to have the 3-star, James Beard Award winning, industry leading, uber hipster chefs in these too (This is Munchies after all), but these other guys are just straight up REAL.

Great video! This is actually the first one of your videos I've seen. I was rather impressed. I'm totally going to subscribe and hit that bell icon!
One thing that wasn't mentioned - the dams, in particular, are threatening the salmon. They prevent salmon from going to and from their natural habitats, and by holding water back to heat up in the sun, the water gets too hot for the salmon, and too dirty! Even dams that have fish ladders and other dams that make it possible for salmon to pass still greatly restrict the amount of salmon who can pass from river to ocean/ocean to river safely, and some of them still get chopped up. When you consider they have to go through dam after dam after dam, that adds up - or rather, that subtracts.
Not all dams are created equally. Four dams, above the others, are a death sentence to the endangered salmon - the four Lower Snake River dams. These dams halt and warm the cool water from the Snake River, a main tributary of the Columbia River, that the salmon need to thrive, and utterly block their travel. These dams are among the oldest, most inefficient dams in the state, and were not built with the needs of salmon in mind. Fishermen, river conservationists, environmental scientists, energy companies, kayakers, and tribes alike all agree: the four Lower Snake River dams have got to go.
Luckily, the Biden Administration, Oregon governor Kate Brown, and Washington governor Jay Inslee all agree that the dams should be replaced, but there is still opposition from politicians, as well as people who wrongly fear that getting rid of the dams will drive power rates through the roof.
I just thought I should share that... also, I just noticed this video is 7 years old. Some people were still against the dams back then, but I guess knowledge wasn't that widespread. I definitely had no idea about this. Still posting this so others see, but no judgment toward you, Tarik. Keep living your best life!

Seeing two cultures of different backgrounds/way of life/worlds laughing and just understanding and appreciating the differences Of each own brings me great joy. Firm believer the younger generation will become world citizens and lead us on a path of unity.

9:30 reminded me of my grandfathers neighbor who would stop by and offer us Smoked Salmon. I was really young but remember it being absolutely amazing!
