I use GODOX V1 flashes on camera and GODOX ad200Pro off camera indoors. Outdoors with lighting I use GODOX ad400pro or 600pro.

Get a backup lens and flash.

Would you recommend a 24-70 2.8 or primes when wanting to shoot light while only actively carrying one body? (I of course have a backup in my bag, I just don't enjoy having two strapped to me)
    I have the 85 1.8, Samyang 24 1.8, and planning on getting a 24-70 or a 35 1.8 and a 55 1.8.

Do you need f1.8 lenses? Or could you manage with f2.8? If you can manage, get the 24-70. If you can't and you'd be shooting at 6400+ iso, go for primes. I did an engagement shoot last night with a single body, a small sling bag and 2 primes, was great and didn't struggle. At a wedding i'd never do that as it's possibly you'd miss a moment. I ALWAYS shot on zooms until around a year ago and now primes are my go to. But that's because I like natural light and needed that wider aperture for the light sometimes

@@DannyBligh even with 1.8 I could not stretch the natural(is artificial venue light considered natural?) light too much, it required me to use flash anyway for the dances and other inside activity that took place inside the venue, either because of dof issues or just flat out not enough light. For outside outings the 1.8 is really helpful in my opinion too, especially at sunset.
Seems like the 24-70 would be a no brainer for weddings, while running a single camera. But I feel like I'll miss out on the awesome primes if I go with the zoom. Ah, decisions.
I could use careful placement and lens choice to make sure that the key moments are in the bag, but unexpected stuff is harder to get on primes, especially if you have a more extreme on, like a 24 or 85.
You can always crop (as I have an a7r3 and deliver in 12-24mpix), but that adds a lot of turnaround time for the photos and I'd like to reduce that.
Thanks for your input, I think I'll try the zoom, as I've been a prime shooter for 5 years now, never had a 2.8 zoom.

    Wait, no tripod?

For photography? Hell no! For me, weddings move so quickly that I feel a tripod would hinder more than help

    • @lovelystrangerrr

Oh alright, but in subcontinent weddings, tripods are important because bride and groom sit on a set stage where many relatives with families and friends come on the stage to give presents and each one needs to be captured so usually at that point, photographer uses tripod to capture those moments which usually last 30-60 minutes.

Ah fair enough! Yeah you may need a tripod at that point, not something that normally happens at the weddings I photograph

Really depends on where you are located and what culture wedding you shoot.
