This is a most amazing athlete and ambassador to this wonderful Game - to listen to such honesty and transparancy is not only a major tribute to Michael’s character, but to Auzzie Rugby producing such stature and quality.
The fact that he is so supportive of ‘Slipps’ and appreciative, also to a much wider circle, is just incredible.
Somehow with him missing in the Team, Auzzie Rugby Football was incredibly ‘incomplete’ - he must be one of the greatest fighters and toughest players, Leaders, the Game has éver known.
SO good to know he is back.
Wishing him all the very best of fun, coming top notch performances and kameraderie with his Team mates, friends and Fam imaginable.
The Game is much better off all round with him there, on the Park.
And then Auzzie Rugby is blessed to have Dave Rennie putting a different touch into this high level of Sport - a rare quality much welcomed where being in the firing line all the time draws so so much energy and concentration to consistently make good, or the right calls.
Yeah, WELCOME back Michael Hooper!! 👊🔥⁉️
    Great stuff…

Brilliant. Rugby is great - and has been a part of my life for 56 years and this guy is a true star on the field. However, your health, mental and physical , is far more important and I’m very proud that this combative person could allow insights and show the absolute need to speak up and act when things are not right. Takes a lot to admit “weakness” in such a physical sport and I hope the lessons we can all take from MH are taught throughout the game.
I’m told that I played for an invitational team alongside his father before he emigrated. I think he was playing for Blackheath at the time.

Very good interview with a very good player and person. The intense pressures of work, not only, but including sports people, challenges both the body and mind. Many can just refresh by changing jobs. Specialist, including sportspeople, don’t always have choices. Luckily, Rugby in both Australia and New Zealand understand and support the need for individuals to take a break to refresh. Most of the top players reach this point and most are accommodated without sacrificing their careers. Good luck Michael. From a Kiwi ABs supporter.

I saw Hoopers decision to take a break was due to him doing everything thing right on the field, being a stand out and the best no.7 in the world with goals, but your team can’t keep up and keep letting the side down. Not to mention all of the dark media that bully and belittle people and teams in the tabloids. Hooper is an asset to any team and I wish him well. Looking forward to seeing him again.

Aussie have had some great open sides, George Smith, Phil Waugh and Hooper himself. His comments in regards to opposition teams specifically the Allblacks who he has played most frequently has been patchy. The not calling the Allblacks the Allblacks is an example of the pettiness he has had in the past. Fortunately most people mature and generally make better decisions as they do. He is a fantastic player hopefully his persona matches that ability in future

    • @MTG776

To be fair, NZ supporters always called the Wallabies "Aussie" even though they're the 'Aussies' plural... 'Aussie' is just one bloke from Australia... Perhaps the Aussies should start calling The All Blacks just 'All Black'..?

Samu showed more brawn at the ruck during TRC than Hoops has shown in his whole career and McReight was promising too.
Rushing Hooper back in and cutting in front of those guys is part of the reason the Wallabies are a second-rate team now, that and also fast tracking league wingers into the Wallabies.
Hooper is a good talent but is he actually effective for the team?
