  • “Hotarute” or “Sukashibori” is a technique in which small holes are made in the vessel and finished with a transparent glaze. It is said that when light is held up, the hole becomes bright and transparent, and the light that leaks out of it is likened to the light of a firefly, hence the name "hotarute".
There are various drilling times. This time, I tried making holes with a punch at the half-dried stage, which even beginners can try without using any special tools. (There is also a method of drilling holes with a drill-like tool at the dry stage)
Glazing also has its points, but it's easy for anyone, so please take a look at "Hotarute" for beginners until the end♪
