    Fun times in the 172 with my friend Cody as we work on some landings. Cody on has a couple of hours in a 172 (he trained in a Warrior), so we went out to get acclimated, and I got to try a landing from the right seat.

    I love this 172 because of the paint. It's so retro, like something out of a Brian S. video.

    16:44 - you float that long on the airfield I fly from you'd better go around or be prepared to hit some trees... ;-)

    If you think landing on a driveway is challenging!? Come land on a sidewalk at 42I !!! 😁

    That’s a remarkably clean Skyhawk!

      Right?! For a 1966, it's been really well maintained. And the all new panel upgrade six months ago doesn't hurt either. Thanks for commenting, Gareth!

      @@MidlifePilot It's very nice. I wish more older planes looked as good as this does! It would make them more appealing to fly.

    Thank you for the ForeFlight tip on putting the pattern into the landing runway! Didn’t know, now I do :)

    Do you use specific rpms on downwind, base, and final?

    • @MidlifePilot
      @MidlifePilot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this airplane, 1500-1700RPM when abeam and slowing to 90MPH does the trick most of the way down.

    I’m sure I can Google is, but you TH-cam guys like comments (I’m sure it helps an algorithm or something 😀). Can Foreflight show a decent to pattern altitude. As a VFR pilot, that would be more important to me.

      Yes! In fact, when I added the pattern entry, I’d adjusted descent to the pattern altitude rather than field elevation. You can even modify the pattern altitude right there if it’s different than standard.
