10 Years of the Wanlass Residency

2023 marks ten years of the Wanlass residency at OXY ARTS.
The Wanlass Artist in Residence is a year-long residency program that allows an artist to investigate aspects of their practice and share it with the College and community. The program encourages thoughtful sustained research, teaching and making. It is an exciting opportunity for our students and community to connect with groundbreaking and visionary artists.
The Wanlass residency is the only college residency in the country where the artist teaches an entirely original curriculum based on their interests and artistic practice, with resources to mount a solo show of new work.
Past artists have included EJ Hill, Carolina Caycedo, Shizu Saldamando, Candice Lin, Kenyatta A. C. Hinkle, rafa esparza, CamLab, Lucky Dragons, and Liz Collins. It is our privilege to support these Los Angeles based artists, all playing a central role in the cultural ecology of our communities.
