      @dirciad1294 well.... I walked into a dumpster fire behind the scenes, but as long as you pay attention, and watch what others do, you'll catch on quick. For me Fosse was much easier to follow along with, but I am starting to get the hang of it. Granted my struggle is often being left unattended so I have to figure it out as I go, instead of being shown the proper steps. There is a lot of Grey area when it comes to hotel management, like room changes, rates, date changes, pets (if your hotel takes them), etc. Plus we are all subject to human err.
      The most important lesson is to remember to breathe, take lots of clear notes to help you remember the pathways, and always ask whoever uses the system for help. I constantly make mistakes, but I own up to what I don't know and ask for guidance from the incoming shift. You've got this 💚💚💚

      I miss using FOSSE as I found it much simpler for night audit reports LOL Opera confuses me in comparison 😅

    Hey! The way you manually authorized the credit card can cause problems for accounting, and can allow companies to dispute charges, as no 2 authorization codes are allowed to be the same! We recently had issues with this at my hotel. To managers: Contact your accounting departments before training your front desk agents to do manual authorizations! Especially in America!

      He may have been doing it for the sake of the training video. He can't swipe a physical credit card for a training. But I completely get what you are saying and yes, in the U.S. always get a physical swipe of the credit card or as you said, they can claim fraud and have the charges removed after their stay.

    Is it easier for night receptionist?

    • @martinhartmann1321
      @martinhartmann1321 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi there, the process of check-in is the same regardless of day or night shift. However, some consider the position of Night Receptionist a little easier since there are a lot less check-ins to be done. Overall, the job of a Night Receptionist is different from a Day Receptionist in the sense that a Night Receptionist / Night Auditor is responsible for checking the Day Receptionists work before it gets send to the accounts department. We always recommend for new starters to start as a Day Receptionist since you get to do more. By doing more, you understand processes better and therefore understand what to check for if you do decide to become a Night Receptionist. Hope that helps but if you have any other questions feel free to get in touch via customerservices@receptionacademy.com

    How to check in when guest doesn't have reservations

    • @ReceptionAcademy
      @ReceptionAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, the question would be "Why does a guest want to check in if they don't have a booking?" ;-) For example: Would you try to check in for a flight that you have not booked?

      @@prathamsaxena9166 if someone walks in you make a booking the same way you would if they called you. Only difference is that they are in front of you but that would not change the process. If they then want to check in straight away, you complete the booking first and then move on to check-in straight away.

    hi i wonder what poa is (comment section)

    • @ReceptionAcademy
      @ReceptionAcademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      POA stands for Pay Own Account, the staying guest will be responsible to pay for his bill. (Certain hotel will refer to it as Pay On Arrival, they collect payment at check-in so it is identical).
      This is in opposition to different billing instructions when company or travel agent will pay for the guest accommodation.
      For instance: BB TO COCC (means that the bed and breakfast rate will be charge to the company credit card)
