There have been A LOT of entertaining players in NBA history. Even some players who weren't even that good who were insanely entertaining. Neither of those two guys are nearly as entertaining as Jason Williams was. Although Jason Williams sucked as a player compared to Kyrie and Luka.
AI was not a good defender. He got steals but he was also routinely attacked. Steals are a result of gambling and come at the cost of being out of position. Kyrie scoring 4 points less but on much higher efficiency is the more impressive stat.
Kyrie plays in an era where he drives to the basket and gets body slammed the other player is ejected. AI played when that same defense just got you free throws. Uncle Drew would not do nearly as well when that contact was allowed

@@fanboy98 You just watch a lot more Kyrie some of us were around for AI in his prime they are worth a comparison for sure. I would offer that AI scored 30ppg in an era where the team that scored over 100 likely won the game. He also did this taking less than 5 threes a game and had a crossover that would dust guys today Kyrie got handles but AI was just as deadly off the dribble.
@@I.am_Groot I was born in the 70s, I watched Allen Iverson‘s entire career. I think he’s one of the most overrated players because he’s very inefficient. But he’s a gutsy player who played with heart. There is a reason why his career ended so abruptly. He was way too reliant on his speed and athleticism.
He also couldn’t dribble very well with his left hand. He said this himself.
@@fanboy98 Overrated? I feel that his legacy is fairly accurate. He is not remembered as a winner but more a skilled baller gutsy and great scorer. Not sure about abrupt to describe him he started 82 games as a 32 year old and had a pretty solid season with the Nuggets. But his left hand keeps him from consideration. Thats cute.
Fact is Kyrie and AI are not guys you built playoff contenders with and outside LeBron's Cavs which Kyrie walked away from there isn't really any argument otherwise. AI led Philly to the Finals and got beat by the Shaq/Kobe Lakers. Uncle Drew got a ring with Cleveland. I say AI had the better career, but Kyrie is the better all around player. Apples. Apples.

I think kyrie is a more complete as a player obviously due to the game's evolution and being able to study the greats before him but allen iverson is definitely greater due to his impact

AI popped 30 ppg when 4 attempts from deep was considered a lot and 100 ppg for a team was usually a win. Kyrie isn't as good in his prime as AI was but he has nice handles and a wet jumper

Overall AI is the better player.
But like AI said, Kyrie has better handles. Not just better handles over AI, Kyrie has the best handles I've ever seen.
It may sound weird for me to say this, but i genuinely believe kyrie could take a few things from how iverson played defense.

And yes I know Jason Williams was a trash overall player compared to guys like AI. But if we're talking strictly handles, he wasn't far off Iverson if not outright better.

AI was different, a real freak of nature. Small guy who carried a terrible team to the finals in one of the most physical eras we've ever seen.
But did he change the game? I don't think so. Also why is YAO on that list, what did he change? I'm not sure I'd have Harden on that list either.

I don't think it is a matter of people not knowing ball.
I think it is a matter of most people with this opinion aren't old enough to have watched Iverson early in his career.
AI took a terrible team to the finals in an insanely physical era. I love Kyrie has a player, one of my favorite guys in the NBA right now. But there is no way he can carry a bad team to the finals.
AI, as much as I disliked his game at the time was different. He could put on his work hat and simply carry the load.
Well considering AI only played 14 seasons and Kai is still as good as ever finishing up his 13th id say it’s not settled either way. AI is done, Kai’s just getting started again. Kai 2.0 is here.

I see another chip, another 50/40/90, and a clutch player of the year award, all thinks AI didn’t do. So maybe we should leave it at scoring vs handling and make it simple. AI was a killer instinct scoring guard like we’d never seen before. Kyrie is like art with a basketball tied to his fingers like a yo yo. He defies the same gravity we all force to obey. He is the unique, one and only OG uncle drew. Who else gets better when they CANT have food or water during the day? Who could play an NBA game starter minutes with closing duties without a sip of water or Gatorade? Nobody but Kai.
