- Today's menu is 'Kkwa Bae Gi/꽈배기' (Korean word for twisted Doughnut).
I was craving some 'Kkwa Bae Gi' but I couldn't get it at my local bakery so... I decided to make some myself!
It's quite simple to make but like most baking recipes, it will take some time because you need to let it rise.
It's definitely worth the wait tho.
The Korean ver. of Twisted doughnut is covered in sugar/cinnamon sugar but I'm not sure what it's like in other countries.
Ingredients:
Butter: x2 Tbsp, Milk: x200mL, Vegetable Oil: x?, Cinnamon Sugar: x?, Sugar: x2 Tbsp, Bread Flour: x20 Tbsp, Glutinous Rice Flour: 10 Tbsp, Salt: x0.5 tsp, Yeast: x1 tsp

I like to think he just has these sparks of genius and slaps together some random ingredients. Then when he tastes it it's a genuine suprise.
I think the reason he is so good at cooking is 1.he is from Asian decent there fore cooking is apart of his culture and 2. Practice

In French, they’re called “beignets torsadés” (at least, that’s how I know them). Had no idea they were Korean. And I agree, they do taste absolutely great!!

Here in brazil, most people call the "cueca virada", (roughly translate to "twisted briefs"), but I can only ever find them in bakeries in the south...

In Greece we call these kooloorakia but we dont fry them bc TOO MANY CALORIES we put them in the oven and overall they come out 130 bisquits and i eat 9 the day. This is the useless information of the day. Plz respond 🙂

In Brazil we call these "Twisted Underwear" (Cueca Virada), it's really good.
There's another one similar to this one, it's called Bolinho de Chuva or Brazilian Cinnamon "Raindrop" Doughnuts (for easy search)

Should definitely coat these with sugar straight out of the pan while they're still hot and a little oily.

oh i remember having these once when i was 8 but that day, the batch of twisted donuts had been laying out for a while. so, it wasnt as good as i expected. im pretty certain that they taste so good when its still hot and freshly coded with sugar tho, really need to try this soon !!

Im Philippines, we call it "Shakoy" but we don't use cinnamon sugar only regular white sugar. And we usually pair it with soda like Coke etc~ and some people like to dunk the twisted donut into a warm milk and it taste good too
