    this is still the music of the future

    • @MeanderingSlacker

      Oh god no. I love it, but this is in no way fun. Their acceleration, build, and freedom is beyond interesting, but by its way too pessimistic.
      The future is fun, it’s strange and new, but that’s what makes it fun, not anxiety ridden or scary.
      Again, I love the band, but it’s like saying the future ends in nuclear warfare, like some Cold War era vision of the future.

    • @achoqnaobb
      @achoqnaobb 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@MeanderingSlacker Well, nuclear holocaust was definitely in people's unconscious at the time.... but the semi-comfortable dystopia we live today could be linked to the feeling and theme

      @@NOWthebandnot sure if you’re being ironic, but if not, based is essentially a way of saying “cool”, it’s gained traction over the past few years. Though, it originated with the rapper “Lil B ‘the Based God’” over a decade ago.
      Hilariously enough, I was just telling my partner yesterday about how responses like yours will probably be more frequent the further and further we go from the peak of the trend, lol.

      @@vvviiixxx8745 - I was not being ironic. I didn't know what "based comment" meant, although thanks to you, now I do.
      I don't follow The Rap World, which is why I didn't get the reference.
      It's a shame because I really do appreciate surrealism, so if Isidoro had written their comment in the spirit of surrealism, I would have appreciated it. Ah well, never mind. 🙂

    This set list appears to be from their 82’ European Tour; which would be their last Tour as This Heat. I have their Final Concert on my channel, this set isn’t my *favorite* set list from This Heat; notably the cut of Paper Hats, Saigon, Horizontal Hold in favor of Hayward’s material (which is still gold, but not as good as the full band jamming it out to Horizontal Hold’s packaged insanity)
    Regardless, great sound and great performance.

    It's really interesting b/c I just discovered this band after many years of listening to the Cure, Joy Division, and a whole bunch of other post-punk. These guys seem to have been light years ahead of all these bands. I guess it was just too obscure back then for people to really understand how groundbreaking it was. Then it's really dark music so probably not the most accessible.

They broke up and went on to form different bands (Camberwell Now, The Lifetones), recently the drummer/singer and the guitarist/singer (Charles Hayward, and Charles Bullen, respectively) got together and assembled a live band and are playing/touring under the name... This Is Not This Heat.
